Things Haven't Changed That Much - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of April 18

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

THINGS HAVEN’T CHANGED MUCH

Jas 1:25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

Jas 1:26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

Jas 1:27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

My son, Jacob, is really enjoying his small group at church. He is learning so much! After church one day he said, “Mom, the more I read the Bible, the more I realize that things haven’t changed much in regard to people.”

I asked him to expand. “Well, everyone is still judgmental, greedy, and unbelieving much of the time.”

“We do struggle with the same things they did in Biblical times, Jacob; you are right. But, what makes you say that today?”

“Oh, the news on the internet, the news on TV, things I hear adults say, and things I hear kids my age say have a lot of jealousy, judgment and disbelief in them, that’s all,” he answered.

“You are right, Jacob. All we can do is counter it all with some faith,” I answered.

“Yep, Mom, you are right. We can only counter it with faith.”

Jacob walked down the hall and I secretly wondered if Moses or Aaron had been in the room. Not really. But, I did recognize the Holy Spirit sparking a conversation of faith between two of the Heavenly Father’s kids and I was thankful to God for His son and my son.
