When You’re Facing The Impossible by Carolyn Dale Newell

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 NKJV

Have you ever faced a situation you wish would go away, but it won’t.  You have to do what seems impossible, and there is no way out.  Maybe you are there right now.

I have always been visually impaired, but several years ago my vision decreased rapidly.  The doctors had always told me I would never go totally blind, but now blindness was approaching quickly.  That was a fearful time, and many changes took place.

Learning braille was one of several things I had to learn in order to live a productive life as a blind person.  Actually, braille was the hardest thing to learn, especially at age 50.

I would pray before each lesson.  Then I would get stuck in one spot.  It took a degree of self-control not to throw the braille book in the floor and give up.  Unable to distinguish which letter of the alphabet this little cluster of dots represented, I would pray again.

Yes, I can do all things through Christ.  At that moment, I needed His strength and grace.  It became a routine: hit a tough spot, fight the urge to quit, pray, and receive God’s grace.  His grace would sweep in like a warm breeze, every time I asked for His help.

God doesn’t give us more than we can handle (1 Cor. 10:13).  We just can’t handle anything without God.  We must realize how weak and finite we are.  When we seek God’s help, He shows us all things are possible with Him.

I successfully completed my braille classes, and I never totally lost my vision.  God makes the impossible possible.

Are you in one of those impossible situations today?

God may not move your mountain, but He will carry you over it.  Christ strengthens us to do all things, even what seems impossible.

Ask God for strength and grace to accomplish the impossible today.  He has given us precious promises (Phil. 4:13, 1 Cor. 10:13, and 2 Cor. 12:9).

Heavenly Father,

I need Your grace and strength to get through the next few minutes, hours, and the next day.  I will continue abiding in Your presence because alone, I can do nothing.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
