The Tower of Strength – Beloved Women – November 22, 2021
READ: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: We took the family to visit Niagara Falls. The sheer magnificence of the view across the falls left me speechless. I felt the earth shudder beneath my feet as I stood gazing down at the Horseshoe Falls. The rushing water thundered past me as it plummeted to the river below. I felt insignificant as I stared in awe at God’s creation. The power of the water triggered me to wonder what would happen if I fell in it. What could stand in the way of this rushing water? Then I remembered the strength of my God at that moment.
Troubles and trials surge around us daily and threaten to swamp us at any moment. Like the thundering waters, our problems leave us drowning in uncertainty. Many people wonder where to turn during these troubled times. As our verse reminds us, that just uttering the Lord’s name can bring us to safety. What can we cling to until the turbulent waters recede? We can hold onto our Mighty God. He is our strong tower. We can run to Him in times of trouble.
PRAY: Dearest Jesus, In this world, we have trouble. I confess that sometimes I forget to run to You first when problems arise. Help me to remember You as my strong tower. Let me continuously seek You for my safety. Thank you for all Your hand provides for me. In Jesus’ Christ’s name, Amen.
REFLECT: Where do I run when I am afraid?
