Speaking the Truth in Love – Beloved Women – October 1, 2019
“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15 ESV)
In many situations, whether it be at work, church, or anytime you have different people of all backgrounds coming together; there will be differences in opinions and beliefs. Today’s scripture reminds us of the importance of speaking the truth in love to ensure that our message will be delivered in a way that honors God.
As Believers, we should strive daily to be more like Christ. We have an opportunity every day to do better than the day before. God is giving us the privilege to be His hands and feet; yet He knows that in doing so, we are going to come up against obstacles along the way.
In those moments where it may be easier to strike back with our words or retaliate, I believe our Father wants to see more of His children handle these moments with maturity. We can do so by speaking His truth in a loving way so that our actions don’t hinder or distract what greater works He is doing.
Father, I ask that you help us to guard our tongues when we are tempted to be hurtful and allow our flesh to win. I ask that You help us to speak the truth in love so that we can continue to mature in our faith and look more like You every day. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.
