Waiting on the Lord

So many people are waiting on the Lord in our world. Some are waiting for the pain to stop from the loss of a friend or loved one. Some are waiting for someone that they care about dearly to come out of the hospital, healed. Some are waiting for their adult children to be saved or make wiser choices in life or for patience and strength as they raise small children or teenagers.

There are many who are waiting on financial breakthrough, marital challenges to cease, healing from a divorce or separation, healing in their bodies, big decisions that need to be made, and so much more. Truth is, we’re all typically waiting on the Lord for something.

Where are you? What are you waiting on the Lord for today? Are you waiting on God to move on your behalf or on the behalf of someone that you’ve been praying for? Do you believe that He’ll come through one way or another? Do you believe that He loves you and those whom you love and care about? Because He does.

Currently, as I write this post, I’m in pain. I’m not feeling well. I’m feeling weak. I need to schedule an appointment to see a doctor this week. I’ve been dealing with pelvic pain for several months, waiting and praying for the pain to stop on its own – but it hasn’t yet. As I wait, all kinds of thoughts are running through my mind of what could it be?

Nevertheless, until I get the answers, I will continue to pray and praise the Lord. I will continue to believe that He is a good, good Father. I will continue to trust Him. I will continue to do what He’s called me to do with the supernatural strength that He grants. I will also continue to write to you about waiting on God as I wait on Him myself for answers and healing. And I will make that appointment. ;-)

No doubt, waiting on the Lord is far from easy. Mainly, because we don’t know when or how He’s going to answer. Sometimes when we’re waiting on God there’s emotional or physical pain, tears, frustration, fear, uncertainty, and sometimes anger and discouragement. And that’s understandable.

But we also have to remember that Jesus never promised us that we would live our Christian lives without pain, sickness, hardships, loss, grief, persecution, injustice, or trouble. Instead He forewarned us in John 16:33 “…Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” This means that in the end, we win! In the end, we are overcomers! In the end, we are victorious!

With that being said, while you wait, persevere, sis! Continue to press through with the strength that God gives you. He tells us through Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

So, keep believing God. Keep expecting the best, no matter what. And with His strength and grace, keep doing the work that He’s called you to do.

Listen. The Apostle Paul had a thorn in his flesh as he preached the gospel and he prayed and asked the Lord to remove it three times. Yet, God’s response in 2 Corinthians 12:8 was, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” WOW! Do you see this? His grace was enough. That’s supernatural, undeserved favor, and divine help. God says, “That’s sufficient.”

But here’s the thing. Check out Paul’s response, “So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Another WOW! This is faith in action. It’s all about perspective and renewing our minds. It’s even more about the power of Christ and God being glorified through it all - no matter the outcome.

So, as we wait on the Lord for change in our lives and in our world, let us wait with His strength and His promises written to us through Isaiah 40:29 & 31, “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless...But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

“As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God, will certainly hear me.”

~Micah 7:7

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
