Preparation for Your Calling

You’ve been placed on this earth for a reason…for a purpose. And God has already been preparing you for a long time for your actual calling. When God calls, He prepares you. He also fully equips you to accomplish His work and will for your life. The key is walking with Him in faith, step by step, and in patience, while He prepares you for your calling.

Notice, Jesus didn’t just walk into His purpose. He prepared for it. He started out as a carpenter, by trade, but He was called from the beginning of time for an even greater task. Actually, we each have a special task, assignment, and purpose on this earth. Jesus’ task was not only to exemplify how to live this life righteously, but even more importantly to die for us, so that we would be able to inherit heaven and have fellowship again with God the Father. What a great calling! Yet, being the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He still prepared.

He prayed, He fasted, He faced opposition and apprehension, but all the while…He sought and obeyed the Father at all cost. And that’s the same way that we have to be. As you wait on the Lord to bring forth His calling in your life, you have to stay close to Him. In reality, now is the time more than ever!

You see, you’ve been called for such a time as this, sis. We are the endtime generation. I strongly believe that we are a chosen generation to see the coming again of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The signs are all around us (hopefully you’re paying attention). With that being said, we have to stay alert and stay close to God. This is the time to press in deeper in prayer, fasting, and reading the word, so that we’ll be more sensitive to what God is calling us to do.

And don’t neglect or take for granted the most menial tasks or assignments in your life, because it’s all a part of the call. Whether it’s being an employee, layman, or delegated leader in the church or community, learn from your responsibilities. Even if it’s being called upon to sing a song, minister in liturgical dance, write a proposal or book, run an errand, or take on a new project, it’s all a part of your training for the call. Remember, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever capacity the Lord gives room for.

I want to share something with you that I just recently learned through various teachings and experience…“Your gifts will make room for you.” Proverbs 18:16 says, “A man’s gifts maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” Meaning, whatever you’re uniquely called to do, God reassures us through His word, that the gifts that He’s placed inside of you will not just lay dormant and that He will bring it forth before others. As you seek and trust Him, and stay faithful in the smallest things and to those who are over you, He will make room for your gifts. He will open the doors for you that no man can shut…you don’t have to kick them in.

God is training you. The tests, trials, heartaches, good and bad times, menial tasks to the largest ones, are all a part of your preparation for what He’s really calling you to do. Just walk with Him. Be led by the Holy Spirit’s voice and obey to the smallest detail. And as you walk with Him, listen, and obey, trust that He’s working everything out for your good and for His purpose. Romans 8:28 reassures, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” *Those who are already walking in their calling and purpose know exactly what I’m talking about.

As I prepare to close this post, I want to challenge you to reflect on how God has been preparing you for your calling. Pause and consider. Can you see it? Wherever you are, take a minute to thank Him for everything. For the process, the pain, the challenges, the training, the correction, and the victories you've already won. Because guess what sis? Through all of that, He is preparing you. He is making you a worthy vessel, building your testimony,  molding you into the image of His Son, and fully equipping you to become the woman that He has called you to be.

So let Him have His way. Continue to allow God's word to penetrate your heart, change you, and reveal things about Him and His will for your life one step at a time. In the meantime, don’t ever forget these words, “And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.” (NLT)

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
