10 Biblical Promises of Hope for Those Who Grieve

The following is a collection of verses that have been especially meaningful to me. I am learning that comfort is not the removal of pain, but it is knowing hat everything is going to be all right. I hope you find the same comfort and encouragement in God’s promises.

The following is a collection of verses that have been especially meaningful to me. I am learning that comfort is not the removal of pain, but it is knowing hat everything is going to be all right. I hope you find the same comfort and encouragement in God’s promises.

5. Strength in Times of Weakness

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” (Psalm 27:13-14)

6. He Listens and Cares

“But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.” (Job 5:8-9)

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)

10. Our Eternal Home

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)

“I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;” (Philippians 1:23)
