4 Siblings Sing 'How Great Thou Art' in Church

Listen to these 4 talented siblings sing ‘How Great Thou Art’ in church.

The siblings perform as a group called Maharmony -- a mix of their last name, Maughon, and harmony. How perfect! Landon, Jake, Charlie, and Eliza first shared their talents with the world almost five years ago when they posted a video to Youtube.

Their parents say that their talents came naturally to them. Once they were able to talk, they were able to sing and harmonize.

A couple of years ago, the siblings appeared on the Nickelodeon show called ‘America’s Most Musical Family.’ They sang their arrangement of ‘The Story of My Life’ by One Direction. The three judges fell in love with them -- how couldn’t they?! Little Eliza was only 9 years old!

Unfortunately, they didn’t win the show, but they technically placed third. After that, they released their first original song, ‘Same Sky,’ which was written by their dad, and continued sharing their covers of popular Christian and pop songs.

Carl Boberg, a Swedish preacher, wrote the famous words to ‘How Great Thou Art.’ His inspiration came from experiencing a strong storm on a beach in Sweden. The drastic differences when the thunder and lightning immediately switched to sunlight and birds singing made him drop to his knees to praise the greatness of God.

It took quite a while for the hymn to make its way to the U.S. and be translated to English. An English missionary translated the words from Russian in the early 1930s. The English version then made its way from India to the U.S. by an American evangelist.

The hymn was published in America and popularized by Billy Graham. Soon, many singers had recorded covers of the song and have been ever since. This beautiful poem about praising God’s greatness somehow crossed oceans and languages to become one of the most well-known hymns.

Maharmony’s recording is just as beautiful as the rest and means even more coming from a family of God’s children.

For as much as there is none like to you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might. Jeremiah 10:6
