20 Promises from Scripture for Your Season of Doubt
God is near, listening, and in sovereign control. Fight fear and flex the courage to ask him the hard “why’s." Hold on to these twenty promises from Scripture and remember that God will never let the righteous fall.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” - Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

My nine-year-old recently confessed a struggle with her beliefs. I don’t think I believe in God anymore,”turned into a somber, “how do I know Jesus is really real,” and gradually became a firm, “I don’t believe in that.” Missing friends from her old school sent my nine-year-old into a wrestling match with her faith. Though it broke my heart, I assured her it’s normal to question our faith when the bottom falls out of our lives. Scripture says we will be tested in a way that will make it hard will to continue to believe. The truth is we’re never alone, but it’s hard to believe it when the trials we endure seem deep and wide enough to swallow us whole.

God is near, listening, and in sovereign control. Fight fear and flex the courage to ask him the hard “why’s.” Release the floodgate of tears and collapse into his compassionate embrace. The journey is universal. When broken-heartedness threatens to paralyze, unleash all emotion, hindrances, and composure to God. Keep sowing seeds of truth, and faithfully water them daily. Hold on to them for dear life, repeating them until the waters reside.

After a string of hard days, as my daughter adjusted to the change shaking up her life, I found a picture of Jesus hugging a little girl tucked into her line of stuffed animals. Hope restored, she skipped happily down the stairs to start her day. I thanked Jesus for faithfully blooming every good seed in perfect time. He is faithful to do more than we can ask for or imagine (Ephesians 3:20), even when we struggle to find our faith.
