God Upholds Us
By Darlene Franklin

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

It was the kind of night where I should’ve stayed home. It was dark and stormy. The wind-whipped snow blinded my vision. I don’t recall the reason I out. But God gave me courage and clarity to drive safely home.

My current situation isn’t as dramatic as that blizzard drive, but I’m still afraid. I’m a nursing home resident, and when emergencies hit, sometimes my caretakers overlook my needs.

When my circumstances tempt me to feel broken and helpless, I need God’s promise more than ever.

In today’s verse, He’s not just telling me to buck up—He explains why. He upholds me. I won’t fall or be trampled on because God’s arm, which surrounds me, will never fail.

My boat may rock, but it won’t sink. I’m stuck like superglue to the palms of God’s hands. I can’t think of a safer place to be.
