A Prayer for Grandchildren to Walk in Truth

Bible Reading:
"But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them." - Psalms 103:17-18

What a blessing it is to have grandchildren, to know your line will continue, and to have someone to pass your legacy and worth to. Many grandparents, those who trust in Christ, want more than passing on their legacy, worth, and name; they want their grandchildren to walk in truth. The Bible says those who are faithful to his covenant and obey God’s commands will pass on the truth of salvation to their children’s children. There is work for you to do, grandparents. Live the truth, share the truth, and be the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; no man can go to the Father except through him. This is what they need to hear. I remember the times I would sit and listen to my grandmother's stories. She wasn’t a Christian for most of her life, but she gave the best advice. I can only imagine how much stronger the bond would have been if she could have shared the things God taught her throughout life as she grew up. Just think of what you would have wanted when you spent time with your grandparents, and produce that for your grandchildren. What a blessed peace and assurance will come when your grandchildren reach a point in their lives when they are walking in truth. There are blessings of witnessing the fruit in their lives and imparting wisdom to help them be grounded in their faith in God. Tell them about how God has answered your prayers, tell them of his goodness, grace, and mercy. Your faithfulness will be transferred to them because of the life you lived before them and how you speak about your God.

Let’s Pray:

Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for your love that remains forever. Thank you for extending salvation to our children’s children if we walk faithfully and obey your commands. I bring my grandchildren before you today and ask that you would keep them walking in your truth. If they have not trusted you as yet, may they come to know you. May they be leaders and not followers, may they love the Lord and their neighbors, and may they be the one God would use to say to their peers, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” Thank you for making me a grandparent; it is one of the best blessings in my life. May my grandchildren ask you, Lord, for wisdom like Solomon did. May they shine their light for the world to see and be salty as they grow and mature. Help me to encourage them to pray and read the Word, not just by telling them but through living out my recommendations and advice. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today, I sat down with my son to talk about his testimony. We talk about how p*rn shows up today (not just “hardcore,” but the stuff that finds you through social media) and how it impacts relationships, faith, and the way you see people. If you’re struggling, you’re not alone, and you’re not beyond help. My hope is this episode gives you clarity, courage, and a next step.
