Freedom in Trusting God
By Savannah Parvu
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 NIV
While growing up with nobody to confide in or share my feelings with, I learned how to stuff them down and keep them to myself. With nobody to help me problem solve, I had to do it on my own. This has made it very difficult for me to ask for help, even when I desperately need it. I always had to keep everything to myself and do everything on my own.
Now that I have people in my life to help me and to talk to, I am finding that I have difficulty sharing my thoughts and feelings with them. I never want to ask for help. This is even sometimes true with God, and it’s something that He has been working on me with.
God is showing me that He is there for me no matter what and that I can trust Him. He is also showing me that if I ask, He will help; but I have to be willing to step back and trust Him rather than trying to do everything on my own. By sharing my thoughts and feelings with God, I am finding that I have a freedom that I’ve never had before. I have been sharing some of my deepest hurt with Him, and He is healing my wounds.
When we keep everything to ourselves and try to do everything on our own, it really begins to drag us down both physically and emotionally. We keep going and going on our own, and God is there the whole time waiting for us to allow Him to help us carry the load. He is there waiting to hear our hurts, fears, desires or whatever else may be on our hearts.
Won’t you join me in trusting God to help you carry the load and to listen to what’s on your heart? Let’s let Him set us free!
Take time today to talk to God about what is on your heart.
Dear Lord, thank You for being here for us no matter what. Even if when we feel like we have no one to help us and we have to do everything on our own we know that’s not true because You are there waiting for us to ask You for help. Thank You for being our Healer and our Comforter in our time of need. Help us to put our trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
