What She Said! Part 1: Grace, Peace, Rejoicing, Legacy and Unstoppable Assurance

TODAY’S TREASURE

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. -1 Peter 1:3 ESV

Dear Friends,

This week Lisa McHeard takes us deeper into an understanding of the incredibly priceless gifts God gives to each of His children.

Lisa starts the week with these words:

“He (God) is the first Good Samaritan, who finding us beaten and wounded by the road, bends down to bind our wounds, applying the soothing oil of his presence and the healing salve of his promises. God restores us to wholeness at his own great expense and keeps on spending until we are completely restored.”

As I read those words I imagined myself as that beaten and wounded person, and God’s tender touch of healing through the gift of His Son, Jesus. Though Lisa doesn’t specifically apply this truth to a bereaved mother’s heart, the Holy Spirit certainly has. Do you see how theology matters?

Lisa closes the week with these words:

“The confidence of knowing that I have been chosen by God, known by him completely and still chosen, is cause for great rejoicing in the midst of great trial. This evil, selfish, totally deluded world is not my home. I am a sojourner, an exile, traveling toward a better land. When my strength and provisions deplete, I can trust that God will restore them. When I lose my way, I just need to search for the footprints of my Savior to find my way. When I bite off more than I can chew, I simply need to remember that I’m not meant to save the world. Salvation is God’s right alone. I am put here to pass along mercy and share my experiences on this journey toward Home.”

Once more, Lisa fills each devotional with Scripture that the Holy Spirit will apply to each of our hearts in a living, specific way that addresses our unique place in our own journeys. I pray you will carefully soak up the truth of each one of these devotionals and realize the Lord has set before you a banquet table with that age-old invitation:

Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!

Treasured by Him,

Sharon
