Put On Love – Beloved Women – July 31, 2020
READ: “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:14 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Have you ever longed for a stylist to help you pull an outfit together? Usually there’s one thing that makes an outfit feel complete. Whether it’s that gorgeous necklace, a perfect pair of shoes, or that awesome belt your best friend let you borrow. Someone with an eye for detail can spot that one accessory that brings your personality alive and completes the look you had in mind.
Colossians chapter three calls us to put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). These articles of spiritual clothing stylized by the Holy Spirit, help us reflect God in our interactions with fellow believers and the world at large. A compassionate heart brings forth kindness, humility compliments meekness, and patience goes well with everything. But love, love binds them all together. Love is the signature statement piece that completes the outfit of a beloved woman of God. This isn’t the kind of love that is only for those you care about. It’s an intentional grace-based love that impacts the hearts of mankind. We must put on Christ's genuine love so others might notice His powerful presence, and wonder where and how to get it for themselves.
PRAY: Precious Lord, I trust that You know best how I should present myself to the world as I seek to reflect You. I know that Your love never fails. I know that Your love heals, forgives, and draws others to You. Help me to wear it daily. Wrap me in Your arms so tightly that Your fragrance clings to my skin. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
