Everybody Is Waiting

Waiting. Wait. Sit still. Be still. Don't move. Just stay put.

These are words and phrases that don't typically sit well with me. And, from the many conversations I've had in person, on Facebook and through reader emails, many of you are being told by the Lord to just sit and WAIT. Waiting is not always fun. I wrote a post on this very topic a year ago. Funny how God works...

A couple of friends recently expressed their life situation as feeling stuck. Like they are not going anywhere in life and feel like they are spinning wheels. It is so easy to look at the lives of our friends or co-workers or family members and think that they have it all together and that life is moving and shaking for them. It is even easier to hop on Facebook and check out everyone's seemingly "perfect" life as they post their latest pics of a fabulous vacation, job upgrade, new love interest...when really it is seriously easy to edit our Facebook profiles to make it seem like life is peachy. All the meanwhile, we wait...we sit still...we be still...we don't move...we stay put...

Let me encourage you in your waiting and your staying put. If you feel like God has laid it on your heart to simply wait on Him and His direction, you must obey! If you feel like you don't have answers to your questions or life is at a standstill, God isn't sitting on His hands. He is moving in your life whether or not you see it. It is our job to search Him out daily through His Word and in conversation via prayer. Those who obey God when He tells them to wait will be rewarded.

What I would love to say to you now, while you are waiting and in a holding pattern:  be intentional about living your life TODAY. Yes there is a time and place to plan for the future, but in times of feeling direction-less, put your main focus on just living in God's presence TODAY.  If we love God with all that we have TODAY, then day by day He will reveal where He is taking us.

If I've quoted this verse once, I've quoted it a million times. I encourage you, too, to commit Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

So, while you are not alone in your waiting, it is up to you alone to approach the throne of YOUR King and sit still, wait and trust that He is taking you right where you need to be. If we jump ahead and make things happen on our own, we risk missing out on that perfect plan God has laid out and tailored just for us. Don't miss out! Wait!
