Abundance. A word that I’m clinging to these days. My theme for this year is to be ever so sensitive to God’s presence in my life. I want Him in ABUNDANCE. Isn’t it tempting, though, to take our conversations with Jesus in the direction of asking for an abundance of material things? Who doesn’t love an abundance of…

Things…things…and more things.

Yes, Jesus is ready and willing to give us the desires of our heart BUT only if our heart is aligned with His desires, His fame, His plans. Abundance is just what God gives...it is part of His character. He doesn't just pour a teeny tiny bit of His love on us. No. He overflows our heart with His abundance. Jesus died on the cross with YOU and ME in mind because of His abundant love.

As I sit with my hot tea this morning in prayer, I've decided not to ask for anything material this morning. I took some time to soak in His presence...in His abundance. Two awesome verses came to mind that so beautifully remind us of God's aubundance.

For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

{2 Corinthians 1:5 ESV}

The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance. {John 10:10 THE VOICE}

I see more benefit to me if I pray in God's presence asking for an abundance of His Spirit to over flow in my heart today. For an abundance of Him gives me...

~Peace when a loved one gets on my nerves

~Hope and assurance when my bank account looks skimpy this month

~Love when I see a person in need and decide that it is better to serve them than to look out for my own comfort

~Faith when answers about life aren't readily clear but I know that God works all things together for my good

Here is a page in my journal reflecting my time soaking in His presence and abundance.

Lord, thank YOu for your abundance. You don't just give in small measure, you give in overflowing goodness of Yourself. I know it is You giving me more and more of Yourself. May I be ever sensitive to Your prsenece that I may see Your abundance in my day today and give You praise. Whipe away the fog over my eyes that keeps me from seeing with clarity Your abundance around me. You hold nothing back from me, Lord. May I hold nothing back form you today. Amen!

I would love to know your personal definition of abundance. How would you define it as it applies to experiencing God's presence in your life?
