Did you Know the Candy Cane has Deep Christmas Significance?

The candy cane: We decorate with it. We salivate over it. We devour it. But, did you know it is worth far more than just pleasure?

As legend has it, a choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral wanted to keep the kids hushed during the Christmas Eve proceedings, so he invented the candy cane.

The hook is symbolic of the shepherds staffs, who visited baby Jesus.
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15)

The white signifies the purity of the newborn babe.
All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. (1 Jo. 3:3)

This man must have known the way to a child's heart is through his mouth.

I can't help but take this candy cane story a step further...just think:

Red highlights the shed blood of Christ.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Rev. 12:11)

The hard nature is a reminder of the rock.
The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone. (Ps. 118:22)

The desire to grab it and devour it signifies the deep soul yearning for the one who fills our soul.
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

Buy and share the message of Jesus! Remind both young and old of the significance of what they are eating this Christmas Season - both their tummy and their soul will be thanking you.
