Have You Ever Asked God to Show You a Sign? - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of February 13

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED GOD TO SHOW YOU A SIGN?

Jdg 6:34Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him.

Jdg 6:35He sent messengers throughout Manasseh, calling them to arms, and also into Asher, Zebulun and Naphtali, so that they too went up to meet them.

Jdg 6:36Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised—

Jdg 6:37look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.”

Jdg 6:38And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.

Jdg 6:39Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece. This time make the fleece dry and the ground covered with dew.”

Jdg 6:40That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.

Have you ever asked God to show you a sign? I love Gideon. Since I live in the South now, I can say, “Bless his heart!” He just wanted to make sure he had proof that God was going to show up in a big way before he embarked upon the journey. Don’t we all do that at one time or another?

I remember asking God for a sign that He would be with us in a mighty, mighty way - “like a red bird or something”, shortly after finding out Jacob was deaf. And do you know a bright red cardinal landed right in front of me, looked straight at me, cocked his head, chirped three times and then flew away?! I about fell over! Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen, but I am so glad that God understands our frailties. He reaches us where we are and then beckons us to come up higher in our faith, knowing full well He is the source of our energy and endurance.
