Life rarely follows the path we imagined. We create timelines, set goals, and chase dreams — only to face unexpected setbacks, delays, and heartbreaks. Whether it's a lost opportunity, a closed door, or an unforeseen crisis, these detours can leave us questioning everything. We may feel disoriented, disappointed, or even forgotten. But even when our carefully crafted plans unravel, God’s purpose remains steady. His sovereign hand is never shaken

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
— Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)

This powerful verse grounds us in truth: while it’s natural to dream and plan, it’s God’s overarching purpose that ultimately comes to pass. And that’s good news. Why? Because God sees the bigger picture. He knows the end from the beginning. While our plans may be well-intentioned, they are limited by what we can see and understand. His purpose, however, is rooted in divine wisdom, love, and eternal perspective. When life feels like it’s falling apart, God is often assembling something better — something aligned with His perfect will and timing. If you’re feeling uncertain, behind, or heartbroken over dreams that haven’t come true, let this prayer guide you back to God’s peace and perspective.

Father God,
I come to You with a heart that feels heavy and uncertain. Things haven’t gone the way I planned. Dreams I held dear have crumbled, timelines have shifted, and I feel unsure of what’s next.
But I choose to trust You. I believe that Your purpose is greater than my plans. Even when I don’t understand the why, I know You are still good.
Help me release control and surrender every detail to You. Teach me to rest in the truth of Proverbs 19:21 — that Your purpose will prevail. Let that promise calm my anxious heart.
Thank You for being faithful in the unknown, for guiding me through detours, and for never letting go of me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
