Pastor, Former Soccer Player Jesse Bradley Reveals How Soccer Is Opening Doors to Share the Gospel
Pastor and former soccer player Jesse Bradley revealed how soccer is opening doors to share the gospel. Jesse sat down with GodTube’s Janna Bailey to discuss everything he and the organizations he’s involved in are doing to share Christ’s message of love, hope and forgiveness. Watch the powerful interview to hear about some fantastic institutions that are using the game of soccer as a way to reach people for Christ.
The World Cup is a tournament that brings together soccer fans from many nations to watch, celebrate the game and cheer on their favorite team and players. For soccer fans and players alike, there is no bigger stage than the World Cup. It is the pinnacle in terms of the game of soccer, that is for sure.
Considering how many people watch and gather together to enjoy the World Cup, what would happen if someone used that occasion that comes along every four years for an eternal, life-changing purpose? That is exactly what Jesse is doing with Victory Beyond the Cup.
Victory Beyond the Cup, as Jesse explains in the clip, is an initiative to unite and rally believers around the World Cup.” The organization makes materials available to those who may be opening their homes or churches to watch the World Cup together and share Christ’s message with others.
“There’s so much prayer happening, people coming to know Jesus, at these games, and it’s a celebration,” he said. “And so, this is a time right now where God is moving. We give him all the glory.”
He added how the World Cup is a perfect opportunity to witness and show love for your neighbor, who may not know Christ.
Additionally, Jesse shared his powerful testimony about how, as an atheist college student and soccer player at Dartmouth, he came to know Christ. He stated that, as a college student with aspirations to play professional soccer, his coming to the Lord began with an invitation and someone, a fellow athlete, asking him questions about faith.
He mentioned that, in addition to listening to the words this person shared with him about Christ and Christianity, he also watched his life and actions to see whether they matched up.
“And if you’re a Christian, people are always watching you to see if there's something different there?” Jesse said. “And I realized Mike has something that I don’t have. And I had success on the outside. I was, you know, going to parties. It’s an Ivy League school. My grades were excellent. I was playing on the soccer team. We won the Ivy League championship. Personal awards. But I just couldn’t figure out, with all these goals and seeing that achievement, why do I still feel empty on the inside?”
After giving his life to Christ, Jesse shared that his life immediately began to change and that he received a song, joy and an internal happiness that has never changed or disappeared.
In addition to Victory Beyond the Cup, Jesse also talked about the wonderful, life-changing and life-saving things happening with Victory Seattle.
Psalm 66:16 “Come, give ear to me, all you God-fearing men, so that I may make clear to you what he has done for my soul.”
