He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. – Isaiah 40:11

As a young mother, I experienced a terrifying crisis of faith. The deep love I felt for my child was accompanied by an unsettling new anxiety that made life and death feel real in a way that I had never confronted before. All of a sudden the world was a scary place, and I now had my heart out there sometimes without me in this very chaotic place we all live. All I knew was that there are no guarantees for us other than death will come at one point in time.

The story of the gospel that I accepted as fact as a child now needed to be real more than ever.

Did I really believe that God was who he said he was?

Did God even care about my fears and questions as a young Mom?
