This hymn was written in 1873 by Fanny Crosby with music by Phoebe Knapp. The story began when Phoebe was visiting Fanny’s house one day and she played her a tune on the piano.

Phoebe asked Fanny what it sounded like and Fanny immediately replied, ‘Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine!’ They continued to finish the composition and create the hymn that we all know and love today.

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood."

Steph Macleod is a talented singer-songwriter from Scotland. For years, he has been using his musical talents to praise the Lord through beautiful covers and stunning original worship songs. Today, he is using his God-given talent to lead us all in worship with this acoustic rendition of ‘Blessed Assurance.'

“This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.”

What a blessing to sing of His many wonders and lift up God’s Name in praise. Who else is singing these words out loud for all the world to hear?

Isaiah 40:28 “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
