A Prayer to Help Us Savor Long Summer Days | Your Daily Prayer

We want to make memories.
Take trips.
Spend time outside.
Catch up with friends.
Rest more.
Enjoy every moment.
Yet the desire to make the season meaningful can sometimes become another source of pressure.
We fill our calendars, rush from one activity to the next, and worry that we are not making enough of the longer days. In the process, we may miss the quiet gifts God has already placed before us.
The warmth of sunlight through a window.
A lingering conversation after dinner.
The sound of children laughing outside.
A peaceful evening walk.
A few unhurried moments with an open Bible.
These may seem ordinary, but ordinary gifts often become the moments we remember most.
God does not ask us to squeeze every possible experience out of a season. He invites us to receive each day with gratitude and attention.
Summer will not last forever.
That is part of what makes it beautiful.
Today, we can release the pressure to make the season perfect and simply ask God to help us be present for it.
“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24
