A Prayer to Find Grace in the Chaos of a New Routine | iBelieve Truth: A Devotional for Women
A new routine can feel exciting and exhausting at the same time. A different church, small group, ministry, schedule, or season of life can disrupt what once felt comfortable and leave us wondering where we fit.
In this prayer based on Peyton Garland’s iBelieve Truth devotional, Psalm 46 reminds us that our stability is not found in having a perfectly ordered life. It is found in the presence of God. Even when routines shift and people disappoint us, His Spirit remains faithful, sustaining us with grace as we learn to walk through something new.
What Does Psalm 46:5 Really Mean?
Psalm 46:5 is often read as though the words “her” and “she” refer directly to women. In context, however, the verse is describing the city of God—the place where God dwells. That context makes the promise even richer: our confidence does not come from believing we will never stumble, but from trusting in the God who never fails. Where He is present, we can find safety, grace, and strength.
How Can God Give Us Grace in a New Season?
Change often asks more of us than expected. A new church or ministry may bring unfamiliar people, additional commitments, and a schedule that looks nothing like the one we were used to. God’s grace meets us there. We do not need to adjust perfectly or have every new rhythm figured out immediately. His Spirit can sustain us as we learn, serve, build relationships, and make room for the new things He may be doing.
What If You Have Been Hurt by the Church?
Past church hurt can make it especially difficult to step into a new Christian community. Peyton shares that healing required learning to distinguish between unhealthy, manipulative behavior and the ordinary imperfections of people who are sincerely pursuing God. Giving Christian community another chance does not mean pretending hurt never happened. It means allowing God to lead us toward healthy fellowship while extending the same grace to imperfect people that Christ continually extends to us.
How Can We Find Peace When Our Routine Changes?
Rather than resisting every disruption, we can ask God what He may be doing through it. A changed routine may become the place where He brings new community, deeper faith, meaningful service, or unexpected spiritual growth. Our schedules may change, but the Spirit of God does not. He remains our steady source of grace when life feels unfamiliar.
