A Prayer for the Overwhelmed Heart | iBelieve Truth: A Devotional for Women

Some seasons leave us feeling like there simply isn’t enough of us to go around. Family needs, work responsibilities, financial concerns, difficult relationships, health challenges, and unexpected changes can pile up until our hearts feel stretched beyond capacity.
In this prayer, Lekeisha Maldon reminds us that we were never meant to carry every burden alone. Psalm 121:1-2 points our eyes away from everything demanding our attention and back toward the One who is able to help: “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
What Does the Bible Say to Do When You Feel Overwhelmed?
Psalm 121 reminds us that our help comes from the Lord. When life feels heavy, Scripture invites us to look up instead of only looking around at everything demanding our attention. Overwhelm is not necessarily a sign that we are failing. Sometimes it is a signal that we are carrying too much, trying to do too much alone, or that we need to slow down and receive help.
How Can Psalm 121 Help When Life Feels Like Too Much?
Psalm 121 redirects our focus toward God. The same God who created the hills is greater than the circumstances that overwhelm us. His peace does not always come because everything around us changes; sometimes it comes because we remember who is watching over us in the middle of it.
How Can I Give My Overwhelming Circumstances to God?
Start by naming what is weighing most heavily on your heart. Bring those concerns honestly to God, and ask Him for wisdom about what requires your attention, what can be released, and where you may need support from others. Sometimes trusting God also means allowing someone else to help carry the load.
