11-Year-Old with Big Voice Sings ‘Open Arms’ by Journey

One young man thrilled the judges and the studio audience with his stunning voice on America’s Got Talent

Within the last decade or so, the band Journey has experienced a resurgence in popularity. For a while, it seemed as if you couldn’t turn around without hearing someone belting “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The popularity of the band’s hits appears to still be alive and well.

D’Corey Johnson, an 11-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, performed Journey’s “Open Arms.” However, ahead of his audition on America’s Got Talent, he told actress and one of the program’s judges Sofía Vergara that he hopes to be a singer and appear on Broadway and the silver screen.

The young man also mentioned that Simon Cowell is his favorite judge because he “keeps it real like my momma.”

After the back-and-forth with the judges, it was time for D’Corey to show the judges and America what he can do. And what he can do is nothing short of spectacular.

The little guy shows that he has a beautiful, very mature-sounding voice. For someone so young and inexperienced, D’Corey did not appear nervous in the slightest.

Instead, he gave a performance that had the entire studio audience on its feet applauding him. Simon, after asking the young man to sing the song again, but this time a cappella, also rose to his feet to show his approval.

D’Corey was touched by the audience and Simon’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to his performance. He was moved to tears, telling the crowd and the judges, “Thank you.”

D’Corey is a young man with big dreams and a ton of talent. With a voice like that, he has a bright future in singing, acting or whatever he may find himself doing in the entertainment field.

Ephesians 5:19 “Joining with one another in holy songs of praise and of the Spirit, using your voice in songs and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
