Once Upon Someone Else's Prayer - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of September 6

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

ONCE UPON SOMEONE ELSE’S PRAYER:

There are many prayers in the Bible that were prayed by someone on behalf of others. Let us remember that when others pray for us or when we pray for others, it is powerful! People are delivered, saved, and restored so often through prayer! Sometimes we see the fruit; more often than not, we don’t see the fruit, but we plant the seed that later leads to a harvest through prayer. Let us not give up doing good through prayer because victims become victors through such a powerful event.

Dt 9:13And the LORD said to me, “I have seen this people, and they are a stiff-necked people indeed!

Dt 9:14Let me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven. And I will make you into a nation stronger and more numerous than they.”

Dt 9:15So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.

Dt 9:19I feared the anger and wrath of the LORD, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the LORD listened to me.

Dt 9:20And the LORD was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him, but at that time I prayed for Aaron too.

Dt 9:26I prayed to the LORD and said, “O Sovereign LORD, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Dt 9:27Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overlook the stubbornness of this people, their wickedness and their sin.

Dt 9:28Otherwise, the country from which you brought us will say, ‘Because the LORD was not able to take them into the land he had promised them, and because he hated them, he brought them out to put them to death in the desert.’

Dt 9:29But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm.”

Moses understood the power of prayer. He understood his role to be one of standing in the gap for the Israelites. He was bold enough to pray and ask God to spare the very people that equally irritated him and wore him out. Moses did not base what he did on feelings of exhaustion. He based them all on submission to God through prayer, often praying for others, despite his circumstances and equally so – he did it because of his circumstances.  Moses was a prayer warrior for the people.

May the same be said of us.
