About Half a Mile into the Darkness it Became Light - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of January 26

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

ABOUT HALF A MILE INTO THE DARK IT BECAME LIGHT

My husband went running with me early one morning before church. It was still dark out. I was excited to have him by my side. I could run with the freedom of knowing he would protect me. When we started it was dark. We literally ran into the dark. I thought it was exciting. People were sleeping, including the sun, but we were out running fully confident that we would be fine. It would be light soon. About half a mile into the dark, it became light.

Sounds seemed to increase too. Birds made more noise, a few cars drove by; the day was here. The intensity of my confidence seemed to fade. I no longer felt vulnerable because the dark was gone. When it was dark, I felt bold and courageous, exhilarated by the unknown darkness. Simultaneously, however, I felt secure knowing that my husband was there; he was by my side. I knew he had my back. Instantly, I thought about the faith journey: how God expects us to run into the unknown “darkness” of a situation with the simultaneous knowledge that He’s by our side and He’s got our back. Once we engage into the darkness, running in our faith, the Light does come. About half a mile (or longer) into the dark, sounds and visions become louder and clearer as all of Heaven celebrates; they watch as our faithfulness gets credited to us as righteousness. Darkness has no chance.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

Psalm 18:25-29
