A Prayer to Embrace Your God-Given Worth

Bible Reading: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” - Ephesians 2:10

Read or Listen Below:

It’s easy to focus on our flaws, isn’t it? One comment, one failure, or one glance in the mirror can send us spiraling into comparison and self-doubt. I’ve been there—allowing the words of others or my own inner critic to overshadow the truth of who I am in Christ. But here’s the thing: we are God’s handiwork. That means we are intentionally and lovingly created by the Creator of the universe.

When we criticize ourselves, we devalue His masterpiece. We were made in His image, fearfully and wonderfully crafted with a purpose only we can fulfill. God doesn’t make mistakes. If He sees us as “very good,” why do we struggle to see ourselves that way? Instead of dwelling on our perceived shortcomings, let’s fix our eyes on the One who formed us and find our worth in His unchanging love.

Let’s Pray:
Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and calling me Your masterpiece. I confess that I often focus on my flaws instead of the beauty and purpose You’ve placed in me. Help me to see myself as You see me, with eyes of love and acceptance.

Remind me that my worth is not based on my achievements, appearance, or others’ opinions but on Your truth. Teach me to embrace who You’ve made me to be and to love myself as You love me. May I also see others as Your handiwork, reflecting Your image. Thank You for loving me just as I am. In Jesus’s name, amen.

When the world feels heavy, clarity isn’t always what we need most. Sometimes what we need is presence. In John 8:12, Jesus doesn’t promise all the answers. He promises Himself: “I am the light of the world.” Light doesn’t show us the entire path—it gives us enough to take the next step. It reminds us that we are not alone in the dark, and that God is present with us even when things feel uncertain. I’m praying this meditation reminds you that Jesus is present—and you don’t have to walk in the dark alone. This week’s guided Scripture meditation is part of my larger Lent series that invites you to slow down, listen, and follow the Light who leads to life.
