Treasures Along the Way
Today’s Treasure

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works…" Hebrews 10:24

Dear Friends,

This week we continue Treasures Along the Way with guest writer, Chuck F. Betters – yep, that’s my husband. While looking for Bible study notes to help with the writing of future Daily Treasure Devotionals, I found some of these nuggets and share them with the hope they will encourage readers.

Recurring themes in Chuck’s messages are legacy, remembering God’s faithfulness, and especially – God is sovereign and we can trust Him. Chuck retired from the pastoral ministry in 2016 after almost fifty years of preaching and teaching. He had brain surgery in 2017 to correct hemi-facial spasms. The surgery was successful in that it corrected the spasms but unsuccessful in that he was left with no hearing in his left ear constant vertigo and other challenging issues. After the surgery he was in a semi-comatose state, unable to wake up for more than a few minutes. He had to learn how to walk and was so exhausted he was incapable of eating and barely able to sip from a straw. To this day, his doctors are mystified as to why his body was so weak. He should have been able to walk out of the hospital after three days. Now, his brain has to work hard to compensate for the damaged cranial nerves and he lives life through the grid of tiredness, but he refuses to give in. In spite of these disabilities, Chuck continues to pour his life into offering help and hope to others. His Ask Dr. Betters YouTube channel attracts thousands of viewers and subscribers. In each 5-8 minute video, he answers tough questions about suffering.  You can subscribe to Ask Dr. Betters at https://www.markinc.org/ask-dr-betters

Chuck’s sermons continue to be aired on local radio stations and are available to listen to through our website at www.markinc.org.

I hope you will be encouraged by this week’s devotionals, written about ten years ago, but still filled with truth for today.

Treasured by Him,

Sharon
