Be Kind to One Another – Beloved Women – October 18, 2021
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” (Colossians 3:12 ESV)
In Colossians 3:12, Paul instructs the Colossian people to be kind to one another. In a world of ongoing division and self-ambition, showing kindness is not always the top priority. It is so easy to become preoccupied with our daily routine and challenges that we neglect being kind. Showing kindness requires you to step out of your comfort zone, and be selfless. Many times, showing too much kindness is perceived as weakness. Despite this perception, God calls you to be kind anyway. You should not withhold kindness because of rejection, fear, or feelings of inadequacy. In the midst of your feelings, show kindness to others. Your kindness can be exactly what the person needs for encouragement and hope, moving forward.
Below are some simple, practical ways that you can show kindness to represent the love of Christ:
-Hold the door for someone.
-Say thank you.
-Let someone over while driving.
-Encourage someone with a kind word, a listening ear, or affirming scripture.
I invite you to show a small act of kindness each day to a person you come in contact with.
Dear God, thank You for providing in me the gift of the Spirit, kindness. Plant in me a desire to want to show kindness to others, despite how I feel. May I continue to show Your love and kindness every day in new and courageous ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
How will you commit to showing kindness to someone today?
