Do It For the Lord – Beloved Women – May 29, 2019
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3: 23-24 NKJV
Believers, who carry the name of Christ, should have a spirit of excellence that honors God. Today’s scripture isn't conditional. If we are working on a job, taking care of our home, or serving in the church, we are to do it heartily. Whether our boss is unfair, our kids are acting up, or we’re asked to serve with someone who dislikes us, we are to perform our tasks, giving our best, as for the Lord and not for man. Why? Because we’re ultimately serving the Lord. We answer to Him. Jesus is our boss, the leader of the church and the leader of our homes.
The other side of this scripture, is that in whatever we’re doing, we should be asking ourselves, is this something that I can do as to the Lord? Is this something that the Lord would sanction? Why? The answer is the same – because we answer to Him and carry His name.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to die for me so I might live for Him. I am sorry for the times I haven’t represented you well. Please help me to serve you with diligence for your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
In what area of your life do you feel that you need to serve Jesus more heartily?
