A Precious Love Letter – Beloved Women – July 23, 2020
READ: “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Recently while cleaning out some boxes, I found some old letters from my husband. As I read these letters, memories flooded my mind. I remembered how I looked forward to receiving his letters. I would read them several times, as if I was looking for hidden treasures. Each word filled me with excitement and I was thrilled that he loved and chose me out of all the girls in the world.
Do you know that God has written a love letter to you? The Bible is God’s love letter to you and me. Imagine what would happen if we read the Bible like a precious love letter and read it with the same attention and intensity, with which I read my husband’s letters.
We too would declare like the prophet Jeremiah that God’s word is our delight and joy. We would allow it to penetrate our hearts and influence our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.
God loves you and me with an everlasting love. He chose us to be in a deep intimate relationship even before the foundation of the world. God forgives our sins out of the richness of His grace. Imagine Jesus’ blood flowing down the cross to set us free from our sins (Ephesians 1: 4-7).
Just reflecting on the richness of God’s grace is enough to make us delight in Him. The only requirements are to embrace his love and believe. God will reveal himself to us as we spend more time in his word and meditate on it.
PRAY: Father, thank You for Your love. I desire to grow in my relationship with You. Help me hide Your word in my heart and let it be my joy and delight. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
REFLECT: Imagine if you read the Bible like a precious letter from your beloved. What would that look like? Pray and ask God to give you an enthusiasm for his word.
