Strength to Endure Like Jesus - Beloved Women - January 9, 2020

READ: “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: WWJD has become a popular saying. What would Jesus do? We often ask this question when dealing with the world around us; the world outside of us. We might ask ourselves, what would Jesus do if He saw the way we are destroying his planet?

Endurance has nothing to do with the external and everything to do with our inner thought life and the state of our heart (Proverbs 4:23). What would Jesus do when in a trial? He endured, when many of us would flee. Jesus knew the joy that was to come. Jesus knew who held His world - God, the Father. Jesus knew whom He was enduring for - you and me. Jesus had every right to feel abandoned but He endured. The next time we are under pressure, we can remind ourselves of what Jesus did - He endured. We also know the joy that is to come, we know the founder and perfecter, we know who to look to - our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Let’s turn this question inward, what would Jesus do when He feels forsaken/alone/betrayed? What we’ll find when we look through the Scriptures is that through it all, He endured.

PRAY: Father, I pray that You would remind me during emotionally trying times that You are the perfecter of my faith. Remind me that I can wait on You as I persevere. Strengthen me as I go through each season of life and I thank You that I will GROW through this season as you bring me through to the other side. I ask that You would teach me how to endure as Jesus endured - with great expectation of what’s to come. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

REFLECT: Considering the current season of life you are in, how may you reflect the character of Christ and endure?
