Save Your Life By Losing It - Beloved Women - January 21, 2021
READ: “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” (Matthew 16:25 NIV)
TODAY'S ENCOURAGEMENT: We often hold on to what we want to keep. We place it in a photo album, in our attics, or in a safe. If we want to keep it, we simply don't let it go.
But consider how God expects us to maintain our lives. In Matthew 16:25, Jesus tells us: “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” If we want to truly experience the free and full life that Jesus offers, we must not hold on for our dear lives. We must let it go.
We let go of our desires, our will, and our plans, and we give them up to God. When we do so, we aren’t left empty handed with a boring life. He exchanges our life for the abundant life he planned for us from the beginning.
We get our lives by letting them go. Trust God, and let go of your life in order to receive all he has for you.
PRAY: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for granting me a life worth living through the sacrifice of your Son. I pray for the courage to totally surrender to you so that I may experience the life you intended me to live. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
REFLECT: Was there a point in your life where you finally let go of control and let God have his way? What happened, and how did your life change?
