Where is Your Focus? – Beloved Women – December 18, 2018
I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure. Psalm 16:8-9 NIV
There’s a touching yet heartbreaking movie entitled “Life is Beautiful” in which a loving, dedicated father helps his young son through the horrors of the Holocaust by using his imagination to create a game to distract his son from their reality. Rather than experiencing the daily trauma of their situation, the boy is delighted by his entertaining father’s ingenious game. The key to the whole strategy was that the boy kept his eyes on his father and not on what was actually going on around them.
Similarly, we can withstand the pains of this fallen world, as we keep our eyes on our Father. We can look to Him for our hope. We look to Him for protection. We look to Him for comfort. We look to Him for guidance. No matter what, we don’t take our eyes off of Him. With our eyes constantly on God, He can make the most unbearable of situations bearable. Instead of focusing on our circumstances we can always delight in Him, in good times and bad.
My loving Father, You are so strong and so wise. Thank You for taking me by the hand and leading me through challenging times. Please help me to be courageous as you’ve commanded me to be. I know with You, my God, all things are possible. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Are you focusing more on your circumstances or on your Heavenly Father? Might the answer to this
question explain the unrest in your soul?
