Having a Servant Heart – Beloved Women – December 1, 2020
READ: “Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Life is full of opportunities and we can go non-stop doing many things in life. It’s in the busy that we sometimes miss the opportunity to serve someone as unto the Lord. It’s when we stop to catch our breath and look up, that we might see the little old lady trying to put a cart back at the store; a single mom or co-worker in need of an encouraging word; that we remember that elderly woman living alone that needs a visitor; or we might remember to drop off that box of “stuff” that needs to go to the homeless shelter. Whatever it is, it's these divine moments that we miss if we don’t slow down long enough to hear and see our Savior at work around us. It needs to be a part of who we are because it's who our Savior is.
We as believers are not called to be takers in this world, but to serve. Our lives should reflect a testimony of the goodness of who our Savior is. It is through His love in us that we can serve in a broken, fallen world. We are His ambassadors and may we look for those divine appointments to shine and serve for Jesus.
PRAY: Lord Jesus, help me to have a servant heart and to look around to see others in need. Help me to be Your Ambassador and share Your love with those in need. Help me to see beyond myself and see the world through Your eyes and respond with Your love, grace, and mercy. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: Where can I be the hands of Jesus to those in need around me?
