1. The promise in a seed (spring):
Spring symbolizes hope and new beginnings. After a long, cold winter, the world wakes as plants shoot out of the ground and grow. We can find God’s wonder in a simple seed that contains the potential for life within its small shell. Every seed features God’s design for something wonderful to grow – like a flower, a vegetable, or a tree. The transformation from a tiny seed buried in the ground into a growing plant reminds us of spiritual renewal and revival. Jesus used this imagery to explain the powerful truth of new life through sacrifice, saying in John 12:24: “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”. Each spring, as we witness this miracle, we see God keep his promise to make all things new. In Isaiah 43:19, God tells us: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” The promise in a seed reminds us that no matter how dark or dormant a season in our own lives may feel, God is always at work, preparing to do something new and giving us fresh hope.
2. The symphony of sounds (spring):
Spring is full of so many sounds that they’re like a natural symphony. During the day, birds sing and bees buzz. At night, owls hoot and frogs croak. The natural world is praising God for new life and fresh opportunities. In Psalm 148:7-10, the Bible describes different parts of Nature praising God, the Creator: “Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds,”. When we listen to the symphony of sounds in the spring, it’s like we’re hearing a worship concert from creation! By taking the time to listen truly, we can connect with this ongoing worship and be inspired with awe as we consider how we’re also a part of God’s wonderful creation.

3. The gentle yet powerful rain (spring):
God often does his work in our lives gently yet powerfully, just like the spring rain. Unlike a dramatic summer downpour, the spring rain usually comes as a soft, steady shower that lasts many hours. It doesn’t rush off the land's surface but has time to soak deep into the earth to soften the soil and wake up the dormant seeds buried inside it. This gentle yet powerful rain can remind us of the Holy Spirit’s wonderful work in our lives. The Holy Spirit consistently softens our hearts, washes away the dust of our stress and worries, and nurtures the seeds of faith in us. Isaiah 55:10-11 compares Spirit-led words to rain and snow: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Just as the spring rain accomplishes its physical purposes, God’s work in our souls faithfully accomplishes its spiritual purposes.
4. The bright sunlight (summer):
The summer sun bathes our world in its bright light, helping everything to grow. Sunlight fuels the process of photosynthesis, which turns light into the energy that sustains plants. Since animals and people eat plants, that process also sustains us. Without the sun, our world would be a cold, dark, and barren. Enjoying the bright sunlight of summer can inspire us with wonder as it brings to mind how God’s powerful light guides us through life and meets our needs. Jesus pointed to the sun as an example of God the Father’s grace for everyone, explaining in Matthew 5:45 that God “causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good” (Matthew 5:45). Psalm 84:11 connects God with the sun’s role sustaining life: “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” The sun also reminds us that Jesus is the Light of the World who gives us hope.

5. The power of a storm (summer):
A summer storm reveals nature’s incredible power, which reminds us that God is stronger than any storm we face. Psalm 29:3-4 describes thunder as God’s voice: “The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.” Our loving God uses his unlimited power to accomplish good purposes. As Job 37:5 says: “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.” A storm teaches us to be in awe of God’s power and trust that God is working for our good even in scary situations.
6. The generosity of the harvest (fall):
Fall is the harvest season. Many fruit, vegetable, and grain varieties are ready to pick and eat during this season. We can see God’s generous provision for us through the fall harvest and taste God’s goodness through it. Enjoying the fall harvest can inspire us to be grateful for God’s wonderful generosity, which Psalm 65:11 describes: “You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.” The fall harvest can also inspire us to trust God with the outcome of our hard work. Galatians 6:9 urges us: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

7. The wisdom of letting go (fall):
The beautiful colors of fall leaves teach us a powerful lesson about letting go for our well-being. A tree must shed its leaves to survive the winter and prepare for new growth in the spring. It doesn’t cling to them; it releases them. This wondrous natural cycle brings to mind how God sometimes asks us to let go of old habits, pain, or ways of thinking so he can bring something new into our lives. This can be hard, but it’s necessary for our spiritual growth. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to: “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” When we see leaves fall from the trees around us, we can let that inspire us to let go of our efforts to control situations in our lives and trust our wonderful God to help us with whatever we need.
8. The detailed design of a snowflake (winter):
A single snowflake shows God’s wonderful creativity and personal care. While countless amounts fall every winter, scientists say that no two snowflakes are ever exactly alike. Each one is a unique masterpiece! The same Heavenly Father who designs every snowflake with a unique pattern also uniquely formed each of us, lovingly. Psalm 139:13-14 points out: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” So, the next time we see a snowflake, it can remind us how uniquely valuable we are in God’s eyes.

9. The stillness of rest (winter):
After the busy harvest seasons, winter brings stillness. The days grow short, the air turns cold, animals hide away, and frost covers the land. Winter’s stillness can motivate us to rest, like Jesus modeled for us. In the process, we can break free of distractions and discover more of God’s wonder. Our fallen world pushes us to be constantly busy. But God set a rhythm of work and rest. When we dare to rest, we dare to trust God, and that’s when we can hear God’s voice the clearest. God tells us in Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.” In Mark 6:31, Jesus says: “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Like the winter landscape, God calls us to slow down to experience the peace he wants to give us, and to trust that he’s renewing us for the coming season.
In conclusion, the changing seasons can help us discover God’s wonder in our lives every day as a blessing we can constantly count on throughout our transitions. Spring’s new life, summer’s warmth, fall’s harvest, and winter’s rest all reveal God’s wonderful character to us in fresh ways. When we pay attention to the wonder God shows us through the changing seasons, even walking outside can become a way to worship!
