NAOMI’S HOUSE

When we build our world on disobedience, God has to destroy it in order to build it back up.

There was a time in my early twenties that I decided to take charge of my life.  Maybe that sounds good at first, but it wasn’t. Let me explain. God, in His Sovereignty, decided to allow me to experience a series of traumatic events. These events changed me.  Eventually, I came to a crossroads.  Instead of waiting for God’s healing, I decided to go ahead and make my own decisions for my life. Down the road, I repented and turned around.  But in order to get me back to where I was when I  decided not to obey, He had to shatter me. He had to fix my foundation pointing me in the direction that He wanted me to go.

Naomi in the book of Ruth came to the same crossroads. She knew she had to allow God to rebuild her life. And He did. He poured out His mercy and blessing on her, Ruth, and their descendants. Not only that, but we have Jesus because of their bloodline.

Maybe you are at a point where you don’t know what to do with your pain. Or, maybe you are looking behind to the wrong road you have walked. If today you are standing at a crossroads, think on these words by Charles Spurgeon, “When this world shall have melted like a dream, our house shall live, and stand more imperishable than marble, more solid than granite, self-existent as God, for it is God Himself...”
