Why Spiritual Zeal Begins With Repentance.

What would it look like to be zealously on fire for Christ?

Within believers and unbelievers alike, there lies a deep, innate hunger that can only be satisfied by knowing Jesus. As one pastor put it, until we come to terms with knowing Christ, we find ourselves groping around in the dark to satisfy this hunger.

Recognizing our hunger is only step one. Choosing a means to fill that hungry place is step two. And God wants us to desperately cling to Christ, the only One who can truly satisfy it.

Once we have decided to trust Christ to satisfy us, what next? What would it look like to be zealously on fire for Christ?

Our zealous pursuit of Christ begins with repentance. To live fully to the glory of God begins with laying down our own glory and recognizing our desperate need for His grace.

Revelation 3:19 says, "Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent." To be zealous--to be on fire for Christ--finds its initiation in an attitude of repentance. Unless we realize our desperate need for a Savior, all our attempts to glorify Christ will be in vain.

What would it look like for you to be zealous today? May we be truly zealous and repent.
