...what happened with Satan? I know nothing about how or when he fell and I've heard things like, it hasn't happened yet and so forth. It's all very confusing, so i'd like to learn more. any help is appreciated.

Here are a couple:
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

There is one other Old Testament reference generally associated with satan, although it appears to be addressed to the king of Tyre. But there are references in there that could not possibly apply to any mortal man (see underlined portions) even in a very poetic reference like this one. Who were the only ones mentioned as being in Eden? Adam, Eve and God are pretty much eliminated from being referred to here, that leaves one old serpent.
"Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were prepared. "You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire. "You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created Until unrighteousness was found in you. "By the abundance of your trade You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire. "Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, That they may see you. "By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade You profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, And I have turned you to ashes on the earth In the eyes of all who see you. "All who know you among the peoples Are appalled at you; You have become terrified And you will cease to be forever."'" (Ezekiel 28:12-19)
This is what happens to him in the end:
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. (Revelation 20:1-3)
When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Revelation 20:7-10)

Cherubim is the plural of cherub.
John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible suggests that this is "An allusion to the cherubim over the mercy seat, which covered it with their wings; and which, as the ark of the testimony and all the vessels of the tabernacle were anointed."
If that is true then there would be two.
"You shall make two cherubim of gold, make them of hammered work at the two ends of the mercy seat. (Exodus 25:18)
also in Solomon's temple there were two large cherubim statures over in the holy of holies so big that they loomed over the arc and their wings touched.
Then he made two sculptured cherubim in the room of the holy of holies and overlaid them with gold. The wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits; the wing of one, of five cubits, touched the wall of the house, and its other wing, of five cubits, touched the wing of the other cherub. The wing of the other cherub, of five cubits, touched the wall of the house; and its other wing of five cubits was attached to the wing of the first cherub. The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits, and they stood on their feet facing the main room. (2 Chronicles 3:10-13)
Two more were embroidered onto the veil (curtain) that separated the holy of holies from the rest of the temple.
He made the veil of violet, purple, crimson and fine linen, and he worked cherubim on it. (2 Chronicles 3:14)
They do seem to be found in pairs.

I had similar questions a couple years ago. I am a researcher at heart. When I research a topic, I find every resource I can. The Bible, as you can see from above, has the answers. But if you want elaboration on the subject, other texts are available as well. One interesting text out there is called the Book of Adam. It is not canonized scripture, so you can avoid it if you want, or you can take from it what may help push you forward in faith like you would if you were reading a CS Lewis book.
This book suggests that God made the Angels first, and they were perfect. They were created to worship Him and that was their sole purpose. After the Angels, God creates earth and then man and "He saw that it was good". Humans are fallible and can choose whether we want to worship God or not, yet to Him we are his most blessed creation. He made all of the Angels worship His new creation. Lucifer, one of God's highest archangels, took offense to this. He questioned why he should worship something lower than he was. Michael said that God is the almighty and we do what he says. Lucifer says that if God is the almighty, he will build his thrown above God's. At the instant of that thought, Lucifer fell. Since it was because of mankind that Lucifer fell, he was determined to get back at us by getting us kicked out of the Garden of Eden.
That's it in a nutshell. If it helps you, take it. If you don't believe a word of it, leave it. Another book that helps paint a picture of Heaven, Hell and their inhabitants is the Secrets of Enoch. Enoch was Noah's great grandfather (Genesis 5:18-24) and his works were referenced throughout the Bible (Hebrews 11:5 and Jude 1:14-15). According to Genesis, Enoch walked with God and was one of the few people in the Bible that ascended into heaven without dying (like Ezekiel). Anyway, those texts helped me paint a bigger picture of my faith. However, if they hurt your faith in anyway please avoid them.
