For my entire life I have had weird "dream visions" that told the future. I don't get them very often, and they're rarely important or relevant, but they are always crystal clear and they always come true, though sometimes it takes a while. I can tell the difference between them and regular dreams (even realistic dreams) because they feel so much more concrete, kind of like they've already happened. It isn't deja vu, I can remember them when I wake up and they usually stick with me for a while, and then when they happen it's like "oh hey, here it is now". These are two examples of dream visions I've had in the last few years: #1 - I am in the 7/11 near my mother's house. I look at the bags of chips and I choose a bag of Lays Original. I go to the counter and pay using quarters from a roll. The clerk jokingly asks me if it's laundry day, and I say yes. I walk out of the store and some yahoo in a red sports car almost hits me as he pulls up in front of the store. I drop the bag and the chips get squished. (This happened about a week after I dreamed it.) #2 - I am in Chapters with my good friend B drinking coffee. Two girls we knew from high school, S and T, suddenly come up to us, S is crying. T tells us that Cody, a guy from our high school committed suicide that morning. B and I are stunned. (This happened about a month after I dreamed it.) So what am I supposed to do about these? Like I said, most of the time they seem really pointless (like #1), but sometimes it feels important (like #2). Am I just supposed to know for some reason, or am I supposed to change it, or what? I can't tell what God's will is with these vision things. Any ideas?

As you know, the Bible is full of examples of dreams and visions which God used to warn and/or advise His people. Additionally, there have been many visions in modern (relatively speaking) times: e.g. Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorie, Knock etc ... Does God speak to us today in dreams and visions? I believe so. Whilst I don't have an explanation about your two incidents - let me give you just one example of something that happened to me. There's been others. Some years ago I arrived home from a long journey by train. As I left the train, for no apparent reason, I thought of Mrs X. I hadn't seen or spoken to her for over 20 years. For no reason her name came to mind. As I left the station - there she was coming in. Was it a message from God? A coincidence? A one in a million happening? I really don't know. Perhaps others may have a view or explanation.

what are you supposed to do with these? i think if I would have had a vision like that 2nd one, whether I understood it our not, I would have gone out of my way and done whatever it takes to share the gospel with Cody.

I believe it is very possible God plants these kinds of dreams and whatever He impresses upon you to do with them...is what you should do. Once in a while I get some kind of dejevu...os remembering something that happened in my life also happened in a dream prior to that event. I have reoccuring dreams as well...that I pray never happen...like being taken by a tornada and flying long distances in the air....or my wife leaving me. Sometimes...its just a dream.

With the obvious exception of the specifics of your particular dreams, how you describe the experience has been my experience throughout my life. My sister actually has spooky dreams -- she dreamed my Mother had terminal cancer a couple of weeks before she was diagnosed and woke up crying. My sister told me she thought she had the dream to prepare her. (BTW, my sister has dreamed about deaths of other family members that we totally unexpected -so it's not a one time experience to be explained away) I do believe that God does reveals information in dreams -- the hows and whys I'm not so sure about.

I think if you have a dream about something like an accident (for example) happening to someone, it would be a good idea to warn them to be careful. Or if you dream of it happening in a specific location at a certain time, warn them to stay away from this place at this specific time. You never know if it's just a coincidence or God speaking to you, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

ORIGINAL: mayfly So what am I supposed to do about these? Like I said, most of the time they seem really pointless (like #1), but sometimes it feels important (like #2). Am I just supposed to know for some reason, or am I supposed to change it, or what? I can't tell what God's will is with these vision things. Any ideas? I've also experienced what you described since I was very little. While occasionally I'm unsure what these dreams are saying, majority of the time I've known what I need to do upon waking up (usually I would tell all my family and friends to warn them, or if the dream pinpointed someone in particular I would tell that person about it). a good idea to help you decipher is to write your dreams down (the ones that are crystal clear and leave you with the feeling that it is different) shortly after you wake up and keep in all the details, even how it makes you feel when you wake up. You may begin to notice something in particular about them that helps you to know whether or not you need to speak up about it. On a side note, i would like to get some opinions regarding this dream (still unsure of what it may mean). I meet a friend at a store, I have a set of balloons like birthday balloons that are pink. I give these balloons to her and she asks me to follow her because she has something to show me. I say of course and we starting walking. We reach what is more of a hiking trail and i begin to follow her even though it looks like a tough hike. A few minutes into it, we pass by a black panther who looks up at me and is indifferent to my presence (it recognizes I am there but is not threatening), I think to myself wow, but keep following. We go around a corner and see 2 more black panthers sleeping, we go up a little hill and again there are 3 additional panthers sleeping (so far for a total of 6). At this point i become uneasy and I tell her that she can show me whatever she wants to show me later (and that she should find a different route to it). She says okay (happily) and we turn around to walk back. It isn't too far later, another panther comes along...this one looks hungry...it's also gold in color...It begins to come up to me and seems like it is gonna pounce...I'm a bit frightened but I am okay with holding my ground....then I woke up. The interesting thing about this dream are 3 elements, the friend, the pink balloons and the 7 panthers. While I am ready to dismiss this as a silly dream, my experience says that it is foreboding what may/or possibly has happened based on my own decision to follow or not follow. In real life this friend is a very close friend and my supervisor, shortly after this dream i found out that she used one of my ideas to benefit herself without giving credit to the person with the original idea. I realized that I had been sharing everything with her blindly and openly, thinking I could trust her with everything. It's seems like the point up to me turning back has occurred in real life...I'm wondering what the golden panther means though...I'm a little worried that a decision would be a negative one...although I've prayed about it, and have thought that if a situation that is scary like a hungry animal coming after me occurs, I'm ready to go through it and stand my ground.

Well I think that there may be divine training going on here for that very kind of thing. There's no condemnation... God is teaching you. Even the first dream - even though it didn't seem like anything. I've had these experiences too. Nothing is an accident. Even though there didn't seem to be much point to it, it has the very important point of you learning to be sensitive to what the dreams are telling you, and I think if you pray about it in time you'll begin to know what to do and how to respond when you have the dreams.
