for the past several days my 2 1/2 yo daughter has been terrified to go to sleep. after much crying, screaming, and hysteria, i learned that she apparently had a nightmare that dinosaurs were after her. she loves dinosaurs and has several toy dinosaurs and books on dinosaurs. i tried telling her that dinosaurs aren't real and i wouldn't let anything get her and when i'm not around, Jesus won't let anything get her, either. i told her that when she's scared, she should ask Jesus to help her not be afraid any more. i pray for my children nightly (i also have a 3 month old daughter), but i've been praying specifically for this problem, too. what else can i do?? thanks! dani

Maybe for a few nights stay with her until she falls asleep...and pray with her, not just for her...also a cd of comforting lullabies might help...also, does she have a nightlight? That may help, too.

thanks for the reply, oneofhisjewels. my husband and i have been taking turns sleeping with her for the past 3 nights and except for the first night, she's slept through with no problems. she does have a nightlight and she makes sure it's on before she climbs in bed.

The only thing I can tell you to do, what I did with mine, is what you are already doing. I prayed out loud over them every night specifically praying that they would not have nightmares but would instead of peaceful dreams. And, if I prayed, they didn't but when I didn't pray, they frequently did. Perhaps it's merely the kids' hearing what I prayed, or perhaps God moved, but in any case, it worked.

so far, so good! kaelyn's sleeping through the night again. hubby and i are still having to lay with her till she falls asleep, which we haven't had to do for almost a year. but i guess we'll just have to wean her again, which i don't mind doing at all if it means she sleeps better. thanks!

A suggestion for this is move from laying with her to sitting with her (on the floor), then the next night still sitting there but a little further away from the bed, then the next night in the doorway etc
