rgod -> RE: Wish list (9/23/2008 12:18:30 PM)

I wanted to ask about the search feature. There are times when I'd like to use it to search for instances of a topic or a string that has appeared within the past 24 hours. However, I seem to be unable to do that. Is there something that I am doing wrong or is this just a limitation of the tool (maybe indexing only takes place once a day)? I've also been pretty unhappy with the search tool's limitation of only 300 hits - I would like to be able to see all of the hits that are available. Are there any plans to make changes to this feature?

I've noticed that too. It seems to be a limitation.

I don't think so, it's been 300 hits since we've been here.

As Mike said, it's not a sin, just posting is!

Whew!
I was reading an interesting thread and when I went to the next page... [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] It was in the Men Only folder!

I left immediately!! Felt that someone, at some point, would send me a note telling me that I should be more careful. [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

Thanks for the info!

But it is not against the rules to read over there either, however I do admire the respect for privacy though.

I wish that I wish that I wish that I wish that I wish...

that the hideous server error screen with it's \ and computerese talk saying there was a problem with my posting (what color background is that thing, salmon?)- that the beast would have a message at the top of it saying

"Dear User, do not panic. Your post is not lost. Do NOT close this screen. Simply right click on it, then select the back feature, and your post should reappear to try again a second time, or third time, or until we are through having fun with this."

And then it could say all it's IT computer lingo-jingo.

I mean, that would be like a Christmas present from these forums to their members like never before received.

Thanks for the consideration. Not everyone knows this, and I forget and freak out every now and then.

And as always, thanks for the awesome job y'all are doing.

Exactly like that! [:D]

Notification noted!

One week later....
I wish I could read my scribbling. [&:] Guess I'll throw it away.

That's really cute, and as I got a runtime error this evening, it would be nice to have ~ even though I know that I could go back a page and find me post safe and secure.[:D]

Well, there's a whole lotta cute to go around on this Vista OS computer, along with no back button on this reply window showing up whatsoever at the top of it.

I do love tomatoes, btw, and I've got another word for you.

Preparation is having several over-ripe ones around for protection.

[;)] The New, Unabridged, Contemporary Tomato Dictionary! Woo-hoo!

OneJohn410 -> RE: Wish list (10/5/2008 12:26:20 AM)

The birthday listing on the forum home page is a beautiful listing of everyone, yet I never recall seeing the names of the day's users as a fairly active forum member.

Could an option be added that would allow for a cheery, pre-set greeting to be sent to everyone, that would be miniscule in server storage size next to a user clicking on everyone there individually and sending a greeting one by one? I've got a real disconnect on how the list of users is a practical benefit as it is.

Just an idea. Any thoughts, anyone?

OneJohn410 -> RE: Wish list (10/6/2008 5:48:49 PM)

I wish all the smilies were on a sliding 'rack' that displayed just 14 at a time next to the text window. Just put them all in one place, with a drag strip below. It could then be somewhat like the a Keneau Rives film where he says we're gonna need guns, lots of guns, and suddenly rows and rows of them start flying past either side of them.

AprilMtns -> RE: Wish list (10/23/2008 9:45:55 AM)

I have a wish but maybe it's more like a question and it sure isn't a complaint so maybe I'm putting this in the wrong place. Anyhooo...

I love smileys but my question is: "Is it possible to replace the smileys that are rarely used?"

Since it is election time, maybe we could vote! [sm=flagamerican.jpg][:D]
1. Smileys that we use.
2. Smileys that we rarely use.

The reason for the vote? So we could get some new ones. [sm=dance.gif]

Thanks for reading, I feel better just getting this wish out.

jbow -> RE: Wish list (10/23/2008 6:06:41 PM)

I would like for the threads to load faster. Sometimes it takes 20 to 30 seconds. I have a very fast cable connection. Other websites load very fast. Crosswalk forums load sooooo sloooow. Is there a server problem? Many times I just refresh after it sits there for a while with just he banner at the top loaded. It is frustrating. I am a plus member, I do not mind paying to help.

Thanks,

Julien

MyCatSmokey2006 -> RE: Wish list (10/23/2008 10:23:04 PM)

I'd like more smilies too:

A CAKE smilie for someone's birthday.

A TROPHY smilie for congratulating someone on an achievement.

A PIE smilie

Smilies that move, like the ones I've seen in some of Kath's posts.

Oh yes!
I want to be able to use Kath's! I promise that I wouldn't do anything rude or fattening.

That could be a mutliple of things, it doesn't take too long for my pages to load, usually about 5 seconds at the longest. Using a different web-broswer would speed things up too.

ta_mosquito -> RE: Wish list (10/31/2008 9:46:01 PM)

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I'd love if the signature box could take more characters, like 500 instead of 255. I've found a couple great quotes that I'd love to use, but they're too long, even when removing all formatting (which takes up characters, too).

Also, I'd like the report box to allow more characters as well.

rayofson -> RE: Wish list (11/1/2008 10:46:51 AM)

I would think that you see enough 'characters' in the report box. [8D]

MyCatSmokey2006 -> RE: Wish list (11/2/2008 9:52:38 PM)

I'd like to be able to upload goofy cartoon-like pictures in my posts like the ones some moderators use in their posts. I know that this feature is disabled due to the trolls uploading tos prohibited stuff, but I think that only they (trolls) should not be allowed to post pictures.

Just my two cents. (actually, it's one cent, spread 3 ways, you know share the wealth like Obama wants us to.) [:D]

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Wish list (11/5/2008 4:02:14 PM)

I wish that Crosswalk would have a movie recommendation list, with ratings and why the ratings were given, with warnings, with compliments. Not just the CW-public-"I like this movie" / "I thought this one stunk," but something more professionally prepared.

I also wish that CW would tell when those same movies are coming out on DVD.

Hi Abiyah, are you aware of this page on Crosswalk at all? movies. Also, are you aware that CW has a newsletter on movies as well?

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Wish list (11/8/2008 6:03:01 PM)

Uh -- NO! [:D] Thank you! Thank you! I did look at it, but my flash plugin won't update. Thank you for telling me, because when I can get that updated, I will definitely look into it. In the meantime, I will check out the newsletter!

Did I write thank you? [:)]

Well, thank you![;)]

Oh -- and how can I access that newsletter?
