Hey...anyone into some irreverant humor? Tonight (also March 1 and 8) on PBS, there's 2-hours worth of Monty Python's Personal Best on.

Oh...I checked PBS tonight...didn't see it. Maybe it came on at 8. Or is coming on at 10 - but is it a new something? Or that old one...and by coming back, you mean they're airing the reruns, no?

The special tonight is a compliation of each Python player's favorite skits. The show coming back on the air, I'm sure, is the old reruns. Which won't bother me one bit. Still as hilarious now as they were then....maybe even funnier!

Like Seinfeld reruns are.

Ok. This is my NINTH attempt, and I'm not one to use caps, NINTH attempt to post. So, forgive me if it's not terribly inspired.

I don't know if skin is a practical thing to use (for something besides skin). As far as how long it lasts, what sort of protection to what it's covering...can't really say it's someting I've looked into. My wireless, keeps going out, and I keep losing posts. I had cracked a Dooe...yvward joke, but lost it (thought, it was part of one of my first attempts to post, and it made it)

So, why is the sad face pink, huh?? Pink, in the patriarchal hierarchy of tradition meaning female, why are the two crying faces of the pink variety, hm??

It's like that colgate commerical that made me rant one night, where there's a bunch of pink toothbrushes, toiling away uselessly, and the one blue toothbrush comes in and does all their work for them, and wipes them away .

Here's my quote of the night, "It was about getting to know each other's lips a little better."

Late night network TV (Elimidate, in this case*) really makes me want cable television.

Mmm..Brini...

OH, and, someone wanted to know (I had never looked at the big screen of smilies, but now I want to know, too), what is up with this:

?

Also, what is this dude saying:

And raves are so 96, why is CW promoting the use of ecstasy:

And this freedom smiliey:

Heh heh heh hunh hunh hunh...le pan. Sartre. Fromage frites.

Ooo..another episode of Elimidate. Geek Week! The one I just watched was "Blind Love," and all the girls wore masks. Per usual, he went with the whoriest ones. However, the final two were painfully obviously not the most attractive. An interesting (and I mean that oh-so loosely) twist (and I mean that oh-so loosely).

Informal poll:

Single ladies, what's more depressing:

She Says questions on CW, or Elimidate?

And, now, because there's been posts in the meantime,

"The special tonight is a compliation of each Python player's favorite skits. The show coming back on the air, I'm sure, is the old reruns. Which won't bother me one bit. Still as hilarious now as they were then....maybe even funnier!

Does it end with a bit about the dead one's urn? I covet the complete DVD set...have for yyearrrs. I have three VHS tapes full, but it's not enough. Whenever the inevitable "What do you look for in a man?" bit comes up, "Quotes Monty Python" is on mine. Or MST. I'm easy to please.

Seinfeld. I started watching it because it came on inbetween the Simpsons and...something else I used to watch. I really admire the clever writing, but I really didn't like any of the characters - and I know that was part of the schtick, but still...

I've been in a Monty Python slump for a little while now. But I got to see Spamalot last weekend and it brought me right back! The script is based on the Holy Grail, but they throw in other bits, like "Always Lok on the Bright Side of Life" and there were some ad-libs that had me in tears. I came home the next day and watched the Holy Grail with my son, to explain to him why we bought him a killer rabbit puppet. He thought it was weird. But he liked the part where the monks bash their heads. Hey, it's a start, he's only 8.

The best late night network tv I've ever seen is Street Smarts. I love that they have an actual dunce cap.

Yes! I was mildly disturbed when I originally saw that one and cannot imagine any circumstance that it might be appropriate to use it!

Tough question. Questions on CW are depressing because of their naivety... questions on Elimidate are depressing because of their stupidity. I guess I'll pick CW because I don't really watch Elimidate.

Icons... Insulting in some cases, and highly questionable as to what the purpose might be. Deviantart.com has animated ones that are quite well designed, and useful, as opposed to the antique ones appropriated here. But they'll eventually vanish, along with typing, once the net gets up to speed and everyone starts talking face to screen.

Yes. It means that you have stock invested in the Muppets. =]

Not familiar with Elimidate... and yet somehow, I'm alright with that.

My mind read that as "Deviant Tart." I'm seriously considering changing my handle. Maybe I should start a poll about it.

I read last night they're making a sequel to the Dark Crystal!!

I guess I could at least be happy they're not remaking it, with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and Britney Spears stuck in there somewhere...

I shouldn't be laughing out loud right now. If the name fits?

The site is fairly self-explanatory, if oddly named. It grew from someone's personal site some years ago.

A sequel? What's to sequel? Arg...

Never saw, nor do I particularly wish to see, Elimidate. She Says questions can be frustrating at times, but I think anything that opens dialogue between men and women isn't all bad. I'd much rather a man (or woman, for that matter) ask something directly that they aren't sure about, then go on in ignorance or misinformed.

I'm wondering if alot of the recent posts -- on alot of threads -- that seem rather 'duh!' are due to younger posters....not that there's anything wrong with that...

Actually, each hour of the special is each individual cast member's best loved skits...pretty funny (and yes, available for purchase). Last night was Eric Idle's and Graham Chapman's favs.....had me in tears...oh my gosh. Can't wait for Michael Palin's night...

Extraordinarily clever writing...and I loved the characters...so shallow, yet believable. And so unlike anything on TV before or since, although I've heard the show about the Office (is that what it's called?) might be close. I don't know when it's on and haven't had time recently to search for it...which is okay by me.

I try to tell myself that, but then I get depressed that our children are growing up without learning to speak and write English properly.

And, when the merge happened, I noticed the number of poorly written posts, and the number of younger posters, noticeably (well, er, as I mentioned, I noticed, so) increase.

I have been telling everyone to watch The Office for over a year, now. Oh my..."Fashion." I can just sit here and think about it and be amused.

And The US one.

I also recommend Coupling; it's laugh out loud hilarious.

Here's my thought of the day, I'd make it my sig if it wasn't so long:

"Feminists have a vision of women, even women, as individual human beings; and this vision annihilates the system of gender polarity in which men are superior and powerful. This is not a bourgeois notion of individuality; it is not a self-indulgent notion of individuality; it is the recognition that every human being lives a separate life in a separate body and dies alone.

In proposing “the individuality of each human soul,” feminists propose that women are not their sex; nor their sex plus some other little thing—a liberal additive of personality, for instance; but that each life—including each woman’s life—must be a person’s own, not predetermined before her birth by totalitarian ideas about her nature and her function, not subject to guardianship by some more powerful class, not determined in the aggregate but worked out by herself, for herself.

Frankly, no one much knows what feminists mean; the idea of women not defined by sex and reproduction is anathema or baffling. It is the simplest revolutionary idea ever conceived, and the most despised."

And part of why Jesus' teachings were so radical. His 'lifting up' of the women of his day (as well as men and people of all 'classes'), and advocating personal response and access to God, for example, was part of what angered so many of the religions leaders, it seems to me.

I like the positives that 'feminism' has brought to society (the basic human equalities and the emphasis on the 'individuality of each human soul'), but could really do without the negatives...basically women doing the same things that they complain men have been doing for ages to them.

Sometimes I actually think that men in our society may need a 'movement' just to be accepted as people once again....40+ years of 'men-hating,' however subtle, is waaaay more than enuf for me.

Yes!! So well put!

And that's why society is sliding further and further away, personal responsibility is so frowned upon these days; and there's so many things to blame...
