I don't mind the sounds of children playing on my block. I do, however, mind the nosy little girl from next door running up on my porch, looking in the window, screaming and running away all the time. I also don't like her playing in my side yard. She can't play on her own porch because it's taken up with a broken grill and, as of last Thursday, a broken high chair as well. I've repeatedly asked her mom to have her play in her own yard and all she does is laugh and say "Your yard's more interesting." They're supposed to be moving and I cannot wait for that glorious day!!!

You must be a light sleeper. They're noisy, they play all kinds in the street, and don't MOVE when a car (ie, me) turns down the road to go home, leave their bikes lying in the middle of the street, and make noise.

I have threatened to get all Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on their bee-hinds.

Oh my! You seem to have gotten the kids I used to live around moving into your neighborhood. They have no respect for anyone or anything.

Devo 2.0 was dumb.

I watched a really interesting show on cocaine on the History Channel. I knew it used to be legal and in all sorts of stuff, but it was interesting to see how and why (it makes black men rape white women) it came to be illegal and villified.

That is disgusting. I mute commercials or do something else while they're on.

Someone I know calls weed "groceries," and so buying weed is "buying groceries," and that's what I think when I see that thread title. It is very funny in my head.

Really? Now I'm not so sad that the Quizno's by us closed.

Jagermeister My dad discovered Jagermeister during Oktoberfest last year, and went out and bought a bottle. He tried to tell us it was really good, but luckily I knew better. Did I tell y'all that my dad keeps cases of beer and bottles of wine in his trunk "just in case"? In answer to the obvious question, I'm not really sure.

That is so awesome... I like your dad. My friend has an art show every Friday the 13th, and last time the boyf and I dressed like a deer and hunter. I was the Jager faerie. It was sweet. How can I not love a man who will wear lederhosen for me?

Hey M. - is there a name for that area in Cola. that has several little strips of shops, but the stores are artsy and there's several pubs and bars and such. Almost small townish, but with a real art flavor it. It's like this little oasis in the middle of yuckville.

I think there is a hospital nearby. It's not in the downtown area, but not far away from that. I remember several stores with cool windsocks and antique-ish and artisan stuff for sell.

???

Hm. Well, that sounds like Five Points. I can't stand it there. Frat central. If you're looking for underage girls to date rape, there you are. Blech.

There's also no such thing as an artsy area in this town.

Except my yard.

uh huh...only been there during the day and it was ok then. Just wondered. Had someone call me about going to Columbia to the zoo and then where else could they go for fun.

Any suggestions?

They are in their early 30's, no kids. And yeah...they like beer.

The do NOT like country music - are ok with most everything else. They would love to go a techno club, but I don't think there are any up there.

I feel the pain of everyone...then I feel nothing.

If I wait patiently, another 10 years or so, the bands I liked in the 80's and 90's, that are still alive, will play the county fair in SF and I can see them, or rather the shells of what they once were. I figure another 10 years down the road, groups like REM might be desperate enough to hit the fair circuit.
