I did not wrote this song but when we sing it in church it touches me so much... The song is in spanish but I will try my best to t ranslate it for you..... I hope you enjoy it and that the words may touch your hearts in a special way...

Some random thoughts on the heart, based on Scriptures:
Son of Righteousness, Good Cheif Shepherd
One who gave His life for the sheep
And watches over them
All others are theives and robbers

^I really enjoy that Old World-style of writing like you posted by Ali Matthews (a style that you also see in Charles Wesley's writings posted above)! My favorite Christian music is more of a modern, contemporary style of writing, but I do deeply appreciate the elegant writing you see in those old beautiful hymns!
Anyways, here is another one:

^Oh, I just love that song, and I have it on CD. You posting it, makes me want to go listen to it. It just gives so much glory to Christ, and proclaims Him as He is: A Solid Rock, complete Victory. Thanks for reminding me of it "SinnerSaved!" :-)

Today I was thinking about how Jesus not only saves us and forgives us our sins, He forgets them, and starts us living in His true promises, even when we "broke our promises" to Him. He cleanses our consciences, and lifts our chins, and wipes away all stains. His love & mercy & goodness is absolutely & literally beyond words. So, a simplistic poem thinking of all our Holy Savior has done for us:
I don't know what You saw in me, But I'm thankful You chose me before the foundation of the earth. I'm not worthy to even know You, or call out Your Name, but still, You call me "friend." So many ways I've failed You, but You failed me not. Faithful even to the unfaithful, that You truly are. Filled with promises to even those that broke their promises to You. Everyday, living in Your strength, always needing a Savior. You were the Doctor to the sick for me, and now you daily uphold my soul, watching over me.
JESUS CHRIST
Holy Savior dressed in gleaming white

Excellent post! It is mind boggling and so sad to me with the way this world is going that there are so many who can't seem to grasp that fact. True unconditional love. Who could not want it? Ashamed to admit Jesus was not my first love but you can bet HE is now my only love and will be my last love. He has an everlasting love. I find shelter under his wing and may I find the fields He prepares for me to glean. Fields of plenty. As is in the Book of Ruth.

^Amen, NativeMary! He's to be our First Love and Last Love! I have to still read the Book of Ruth. I don't know much about her (yet).
Today, I had a heavy mental picture of the crucifixion scene. It was a scene that was monochrome and still. I pictured the three crosses, with Jesus hung in the center -- bleeding, in agony, and almost naked. Despite the crowd around, He was lonely up there -- suffering, nailed. He was forsaken by even His Father. Our many sins were heavy on Him. The afternoon was dark & heavy & gloomy. He finally cried that it was finished, and gave up His spirit, and an earthquake rumbled through the land. It was very dramatic to me. I never want to take advantage of in my life, ever again, for one moment, what He did for me there -- feeling joy over what He did for me (us), but sorrow for what He went through for me (us). The Father didn't have to send His beloved Son, and Jesus could have called ten thousand angels anytime to help Him. But, the Father and the Son's love was too great...
So my last "love song" poem to Jesus:
AS I DRAW CLOSER TO THE CROSS
LORD, I AM QUIETED INSIDE
NO MORE PLACE FOR PRIDE
OR ARROGANCE
AS I DRAW CLOSER TO THE CROSS
AT THAT STARK PLACE IN WHICH
YOU HUNG IN AGONY, YET BLAMELESS
OUTSIDE THE GATES OF THE CITY
AT THE PLACE CALLED "GOLGOTHA"
YOU SUFFERED IN THE HANDS OF
THE WICKED, AND WERE GIVEN
A GRAVE WITH THE UNRIGHTEOUS
AS I DRAW CLOSER TO THE CROSS
ALL I WANT TO DO IS
FIX MY EYES ON YOUR SACRIFICE
BUT YOU NO LONGER HANG THERE
AND YOUR TOMB IS EMPTY
YOU ROSE AGAIN
YOU CONQUERED DEATH FOREVER
BY YOUR STRIPES WE ARE HEALED
YOUR NAME PROCLAIMS YOUR VICTORY
YOUR NAME ECHOES YOUR
ETERNAL RIGHTEOUSNESS
YOU ARE PURIFYING FIRE TO MY SOUL

I REALIZE WHAT TRUE LOVE IS
I AM FOREVER CHANGED AND HEALED
