I'm thinking of just sprinkling some tinsel on the kitty and settling for a Christmas Cat. No worries then about the kitty messing up a tree.

The only problem I can foresee is that the presents would only be under the cat 18 hours a day, so we'd have to time the gift giving to coincide with her nap times.

LOL! I thought I'd try that spray "Boundary" to keep my cat out of the tree. Well, I sprayed the tree and found it had the most wretched odor. I was practically gagging, when I am positive I heard my cat snicker........from under the tree! So much for a decorated tree this year.

Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

Never had a problem with our cat getting up into the tree since she was a kitten. She fell into the "box" of water the tree was standing in and has never set claw against a branch since then.

She does like to sleep under the tree - I think it's just warm under there, so she likes it.

For me, it's just the clutter of Christmas - making room for the tree and gifts and then filling up every speck of counter space with goodies and using my washer/dryer as counter space and then trying to move stuff to wash clothes and then....well let's just say that while I love this season, I am thankful when the house has more room after the first of the year!

Wow, hadn't seen this thread for a long time. Thanks for resurrecting it, Euty! I'm so glad posts here don't get archived and then disappear.

I've been lurking in a few threads and trying to keep my jaw from dropping on the floor at the influx of new members with very "strong" opinions regarding things that are not really doctrinal issues. And the accusatory pharisaical tone is all over them. Sorta a bitter taste, too.

Anyway, it is just interesting to go flitting about the boards everyone once in a while...see who and what is going on.

I think there is a fine line being walked and it appears that several of them have already received warnings from moderators.

It's just amazing to me the lack of grace being shown...oh well, maybe that comes with being over 40...

You apparently don't know many old codgers very well. I found it to be remarkably true to real life.

Although I'm just shy of "legally" being in this thread, I just wanted to say that even I remember some of the things you talked about at the very beginning - b & w tv, keeping the house unlocked, keys in the car, and not having a thousand numbers in your phone number! Also just wanted to say thank you for the encouragement - I've been dreading turning 40 and the way you talk, maybe my worries are groundless - just maybe i'm more mature than I think? and maybe I actually do know something....or not. Anyways, thanks.

Not a problem, very few of us are legalistic any longer. Legalism tends to be the province of youth, inexperienced, and the simple.

Those in here that are leagilistic, you know who you are.

I just realized that the 80's was only like, what? 25 years ago? Man, people act like it was a whole separate century or something...

I just don't get it - I mean 25 years...yeah and so what?

I remember little of the 80s. I spent a great deal of it sacrificing time & sweat for the company that laid me off when I had been there 24.5 years in 2006. Makes one ponder priorities. On the bright side, it proved yet again the reliability in Whom my "security" is based. He is always faithful!

YES! Resting in HIS Reliability is the only security we have. It's a pleasure to serve a God who is Faithful, Good, Honest and True even when others (including ourselves, sometimes) aren't. And it's sad that there are those of us who don't understand this personally until we have either some age or experience or both.

What what what, was that you Euty? Sorry I was sleeping again I guess.

Actually I thought this thread was long dead. Glad to see some 40 somethings are still around.
