Does anyone have a suggestion of how to tie the link to a specific post?

maybe when you upload a new avatar ... make a post ... update your sig maybe putting the date in the txt link ... and link to that new post ... people will be able to see all posts after that ... you are already linking to a specific post in your sig now

Good morning, Gary!

Okay...a story behind the avatar.

You were out shopping the other day when you dropped a quarter on the pavement. As you ran after it, you saw it roll into a storm drain. You dropped down on your stomach to peer into it and saw your quarter shining on the bottom. As you strained to grab it, something long and slimy reached up and grabbed your arm. Screaming like a little girl (and don't worry...we won't tell anyone) you jerked free of it and tried to scamper away. The long slimy arm reached out and grabbed you around the ankle. You kicked, and wiggled and squirmed but to no avail. It wouldn't let go. Finally you quickly untied your shoe and kicked until it had nothing but your shoe and you were free!

As you lay panting on the pavement you see your shoe sitting innocently by the storm drain but deciding not to risk it, you ran inside and bought a pair of thongs flip flops.

Am I close?????

I am changing my contest about my avatar. Instead of guessing what the picture is, your task now is to tell the story behind the picture. Let your imagination go free with this.

This scene is how I've found it, it was not set up.

Same old story. Lumberjack racing a Dooley pushing a grocery cart and runs out of his boot.

Good morning everyone.

I am sitting in a motel room in east Tennessee. I am on the third floor looking out into the trees and overlooking a creek. It has been raining off and on.

I came to Tennessee to meet some people from the SG folder. They were having a GT and I decided to make the trip and met them in person and to see a state that I have never seen.

In the morning before the meeting I drove around and did some exploring. I found this town that has was founded in the early 1800's. There was a cemetery there with graves of men who had fought in the Revolutionary War. There were Victorian style buildings. And I took pictures of course.

I met a couple from Kansas who were living there now. They had retired from Kansas City and moved to Florida. But after four hurricanes in three months they moved Tennessee.

Then I found an old one lane covered bridge that was a replica of one built in the 1870's

I met up with the people in the afternoon. I enjoyed meeting everyone and the spouses and children. There were about 22 in total. We had dinner at a BBQ restaurant and I got a chance to compare Tennessee BBQ with KC style. The restaurant had put tables together to make one long table for us.

The food was excellent, especially when I was surprised with a gift of a humongous piece of German Chocolate cake.

Then most of the group went to a Southern Gospel concert, which was a first time experience for me. Now I am a long time rocker and folk music fan, and this was a high energy show. All four groups really put themselves into their music.

I am going to church this morning and then I will fly back from Knoxville to KC via Detroit.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time, Gary! Wish I could have been there. Have a safe trip back home and, once again....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Gary I am glad you enjoyed yourself in TN. Especially the SG Concert. Now you have an idea as to why we love it so much. But watch out. You may become a fan before you realize it.

I am back home after flying from Knoxville to Detroit and then to Kansas City.

And while Tonny Bennett sang I Left my Heart in San Francisco.

My version will be I Left my Wallet in Detroit. After the initial panic of not being able to find it, as I drove home from the airport making mental notes of all that I would have to do to replace my drivers license, medical cards, credit cards and trying to remember what else was in there. But when I got home I had a call for the airline that they had found it. Now I will wait for their call to arrange to have it FedEx'ed back to me.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. And Sam, my musically interests are expanding.

Gary I am glad for this. THere are several SG groups out there you may like. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound and The Imperials come to mind.

Glad they found your wallet also. Trying to get those things replaced and/or cancelled is a hassle.

I got my wallet back today, with all my cards, although they were in different places and instead of hte cash I got a check from the airline. That makes it safer that way I guess.

We were very pleased that you made the trip Gary. Wish that I could have spent more time with you.

I heard something about cajun cookies, but didn't get any.

I could send your wife the recipe.

I would like to return to the area for a longer period of time.

I noticed that there was a Fiesta dinnerware store across the road from Tony's. I collect Fiesta and I not dare go to the store because I had no room in my bag.

Yes, Pam. All my stuff was there.

Thanks so much Gary. It was 4 weeks yesterday. I'm glad you all know that I have done this. It will help to keep me accountable. The first thing my mom asked me when I walked into the restaurant her and her friend were at on Sunday, was...was I still not smoking. LOL! Yes, mom.

Welcome Faroukfarouk! I saw your posts in Karlie's thread and went investigating (you profile) and saw "To Awed" and here I am.
To answer your question about keeping it up... It was a year on June 19th that I have been free of smoking and I continue to be. It truly was God's hand on me that I was able to do it.
Thank you for posting to me.

Can you share a bit about yourself? Or is there a thread already where there is more about yourself?

Edit to add: Congrats on your quitting also and hope you are feeling totally free of it still!!

We are in our 40s. We go to a Bible based church.

(Did you just change your pic, by the way, from yesterday?)

Take care.
