Well Hi Y'all!
It has been such a beautiful day! We're supposed to be near 80° by Sunday and I'm really considering having a yard sale this weekend. To do that, I need to really scurry! I've got all those pedastals, tall lamps, wire baskets and other things I've been wanting to get rid of but I don't want to do a sale for those things and not have gone through closets and gotten rid of the smaller junk things that tend to sell so very well around here.

I take my clothes to a consignment shop. I don't do well because there aren't many small women around here. I've got some really cute shoes that are just a little tight on me.... but they're 5 narrows! I'm up to 5 1/2 now. I did make $9.00 last month at the consignment shop and bought myself another pair of overalls. These are just the plain 'jean' style. There's lots of those for sale in size small because teens will wear them. I pay $4.- $6.00 and some are from the Disney Store! All have been fancy name brands!

Jim changed companies. He's actually been offered a 'fancy' job but it's not guaranteed to be permanent. If the big company finds a branch here can't do $2 million a year they'll close that and just keep the plant going. We both have no confidence in this 'trial' type job. It is 3 times the money... but for how long and NO benefits!

Meanwhile, this other job gave him a brand new company car, a red VW, their cell phone, a gas credit card and instead of making us wait 90 days for insurance, called Blue Cross and just had us transfered to their group plan immediately! I was very impressed. They also have the 10 Commandments on a big display in front of the building. Hope it works out. Jim no longer has to be up at 5 and at work by 7, doesn't have to work nights or weekends and the commission is almost double with no graduated 'limits'. By working out of our home, he can write that off our taxes now.

We just got in from Burger King. There's not much to do in this town, yet, and Nick enjoys playing with the other kids. We take him when the weather is nice and just let him play til dark. City park is also very nice but there's usually no one there!

I'm having computer problems. My screen to my monitor is dancing for about 2 days. It's gotten worse and sometimes jumps quite badly. Maybe our Video Card is about to die. I think we have an old one around here somewhere but if not, I'm sure our cost at Best Buy is near 50% off.

Our church is showing The Passion of the Christ on Good Friday outside if weather permits. We're also serving free hotdogs, chips and drinks to the community. We'll have groups to explain and witness after. In case it's cold or wet, we can hold 1,200 adults inside. We're having child care for ages new born to age 10 with age appropriate videos for them. I think that's wonderful. We own the video and I've seen it 4 times or more.

Well I'd better submit this before my monitor dies. LOL! It's sure got the shakes! I'm sure it's something simple. Things generally are around here. God is soooooooo good to us!

Love in Christ,
Diane Tavegia

Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know. 23 Though He was delivered up according to God's determined plan and foreknowledge, you used lawless people to nail Him to a cross and kill Him. 24 God raised Him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.

It's amazing how quickly winter was over and now it's spring! My, my... only days til St. Patrick's Day. My lesson for AWANA next Wednesday night will be the true story of Patrick.

Tonight was pretty crazy at AWANA. The kids who are going to the AWANA games had extra practice while the kids not going had extended 'book' time. It's hard for me to want to go because the new interim is such an excellent preacher that I want to be in church instead! Jim shares with me what the sermons were about when he gets in from choir practice.

Only one week til my final exam with the eye doctor. That'll be four hours drive time but a really quick exam. I'm so very amazed at how wonderful my vision is. I am having to adjust tho, as if I got new glasses! My depth perception must have been so off, that even going down our stairs is tricky! I hold on to the rail because the steps look farther away than I remember them. I sure don't want to trip! EEK! I still have three more weeks of steroid eye drops but will drop to 3 times a day for a week and finally once a day for a week.

Well I never should have whispered the words 'Yard Sale'! Right away, our weather forecast changed! It's to be warm but expected thunderstorms. That's fine. I'm not in need of cash but do have extra time to 'get ready' and advertise. Our church bulletin board has a section for such things plus the surrounding towns also have free advertising sites. I like small towns.

I have fallen behind on my folding of laundry! Jon chooses odd 'nights' to do his. He works til 11:00 at least and then the drive home. He'll start a couple of loads and then go to bed. My dryer really has to be run two cycles to dry a heavy load so I'll get up to a washer full and a dryer that needs to run again. That throws me off by a day so then I've got extra the next day. He's still got a load in the dryer to fold when he gets home tonight and I've got one in the washer waiting..... I'm NOT going to fold the clothes of a 29 year old man. Don't start something you don't plan on continuing to do!

Well, I think I'll say good night to all and wish you a blessed tomorrow. To those who come to read and don't know me.... this is me. Down to earth and boring but I like my quiet life! Those who seek out adversity and disharmony are those who have not found the Peace Jesus left with us when He returned to the Father.

God Bless!

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

James 3:1 Not many should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive a stricter judgment; 2 for we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a mature man who is also able to control his whole body. 3 Now when we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we also guide the whole animal.

We have such strong winds and now thunderstorms are moving in. I was out walking the dog and could hear limbs cracking. I didn't spend much time out there because I didn't want to get conked on the head! We've been blessed tho. In 7 years, we've not lost a full tree, just limbs and we do have so many trees!

We've been watching 'Garden Police' and some other fix it up type shows tonight. I sure wish we could do something out back! It's just 3/4 acre of trees, leaves and red clay (soon to be red mud when the rain hits!) I'd love to have gardened sections surrounding clumps of trees and sod close to the house! I'd gladly give up the giant sandbox and children's swing set. Oh well.... you can't win if you don't play. LOL

How is everyone this lovely night? I only have the two baby girls tomorrow and then Ty is off until Monday week. It'll be a lot more quiet without the four year old chatting non stop. Friday week is my final eye check. One child will be her grandmother's while the parents go away for a 'get away'. One will be kept by a friend. The moms don't want me to have to haul the kids 2 hours each way for a short doctor's visit.

Nick just finished cleaning his room and I'm going to vacuum the t.v. room tonight. I do a lot of my chores once Ty is gone for the week. That boy can sure dirty a bathroom! I wait until Friday when the last infant is gone to quickly put away all the baby beds and jumpers so my bedroom is beautiful again. Have you seen my bedroom? I have a picture and the only change is I now have a white wrought iron quilt rack in front of the double windows. Whoops..... I looked at the photo and there are other changes so I won't post it til I update.

Can you believe how fast this week has gone? It's almost St. Patrick's Day! I'm a little Irish, but then I'm a bunch of bull too.... Choctaw Indian that is.

Well, have a great evening or day and God Bless,
Diane Tavegia

The sun is still setting and yet I can see the full moon rising over the trees out back. Wish I had some old b/w werewolf movies to watch. I absolutely love those old films from the 40's and 50's! As a teenager, since I wasn't one to date, I'd stay up on Friday and Saturday nights and watch horror movies by myself. The old mummy series may have been my favorite but I really like the old vampire movies too. We were sooooo scared without a bit of blood or gore! They seem tame now, compared to regular t.v.

I think the first spooky movie I saw at the theatre was Rosemary's Baby. Scared me to DEATH! My mother took me to see it when I was out of school for a yearly physical. Of course, back then, Dr. Baumhauer scared me about as much as the devil himself! He had some vile old nurse who'd stab your finger with a razor and then suck the blood into a glass tube. I only saw him for my physicals. When we were really sick, we'd go to the local doctor.

Our trips into Mobile would always include some 'walking around'. There was a man dressed as the Planter's Peanut Man standing outside their 'store' where you could buy peanuts that had just come out of the roaster. He'd give free samples too. Oh I loved Cashew's but mother said they cost too much. My father would buy them for himself but never share with the kids. I made a point, when I had kids, to buy cans of JUST Cashew's and shared them with the kids. Another thing we'd do was to wander through Sear's Roebuck's. The very center of the store had a candy stand where you could buy loose candy. Mother would always give me 10 cents. If my brother was with us, we had to share our dime. 'I'd like a dimes worth of chocolate covered raisins, please' would be MY choice. Sometimes the lady would pour too much and I'd see that she'd just given me the extra without trying to get it down to the exact weight.

We used to go to Mardi Gras every year. We'd go to the parades during the day. I loved the 'beautiful' necklaces they'd throw. Of course, now the beads have such a vulgar connotation that I'd be ashamed to have them. Sometimes I'd get a Kewpie doll on a stick. They must have cost about the same as a balloon and were made of very thin plastic but I thought I had been given the world.

There's not many fun things for families to do anymore unless you have lots of money. We play board games and Jim will take Nick to a matinee of new movie but we don't all go. They will sometimes buy popcorn, but the price is so sinful now.

Well, I'm rambling while waiting for Jim to get in from work. His last appointment was way west of Atlanta and the traffic was horrendous. He's in his new company car so he's enjoying THAT. It sure is cute as can be and only had a couple of miles on it when they picked it up.

Have a GREAT weekend and enjoy your family time. I know I will!

** Edited to add: Jim fixed my monitor. The refresh rate was set on 60 hertz and should have been set on 85. A reset and a reboot..... Like I said, he's my hero!

Boy Am I Lazy Today!

I'm honestly not sure I've accomplished much of anything today! Oh, I made the bed, fed my family and have loaded the dishwasher. I've scrubbed some white sneakers that were stained from our red clay and now have a load of whites washing, but not much else. I think taking care of infants is harder than I remembered, especially at age 55. All that bending and lifting.

Well once I decided to NOT have my yard sale, because the weather man was SURE we were to have rain, it turned out to be a gorgeous day! We had a high of 79° and it's still 77°. I just need to get prepared by pricing items, making generic signs and not saying a WORD until I get up and see I've got good weather. Of course, then I wouldn't have any change. LOL

Yard Sales are a great incentive to clean out closets. I've got one closet off our rec room that holds ice chests, Easter Baskets, seasonal wreaths, wrapping paper, our tent and a lot of Jon's clothes that he seldom wears. Even his Army uniform's are in there and he's now fully out of the Army, reserves, et al. I bet I could do some rearranging, but doubt I'd find any sale items.

Then there's the wreck, I mean rec room! We have toys for ages 3-15. We've got over 1,000 Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars from 1970- 2006. Those are NOT for sale! The uncles passed theirs down to Nick. We also have a large Thomas the Tank Engine set with enough track to fill about 6' X 6'. That's not going anywhere either! I'm sure, tho, that the two toy boxes have things we could easily dispose of. We try to go through our things before the holidays each year and pass on the like new items to the town mission.

Clothes go to the local consignment shop. I made $9.00 last month and spent $6.00 on another pair of overalls for me. I love the crazy things! They're too comfortable and basically indestructible. I've even gotten some Blue cord Disney/ Pooh overalls for $6.00. I wear size small so they don't sell very quickly or for much.

I cleaned out my Tupperware cabinet after my husband had a near death experience while looking for a lid, and then went through the rest of the cabinets and drawers about a month ago. Those things are bagged up in the storage room for the sale with a bunch of Yankee Candle jars. I use the jars in so many ways, but have just run out of uses. Cotton balls, Q-Tips, a wedding corsage, sea shells, pretty soaps, tea bags, mixed beans, colored pasta, etc. You CAN have too many empty Yankee Candle jars. Wish I could afford to buy lots of their candles tho! I watch for the 75% off sale.

Jim took Nick to a flea market in Bremen today. There was a knife guy there and Nick got 2 small knives for $1.00 each and a 'survival' knife for a few dollars. It's got a side for cutting through branches, a compass and some other gadget. It's huge and hangs from your belt. He feels so grown up being allowed to have this collection and keeps reminding us how careful he's being. He earns the money. He'd sold a PS1 game yesterday. He has a whole list on our churches online bulletin board and a little girl wanted his Dexter's Lab game.

Jim's mad at the dog. Jim was wanting to watch basketball and Scooter wanted to play catch. He kept climbing on Jim's lap with his toy. Scooter is huge and doesn't know he's huge. So.... Scooter's playing by himself on the floor and Jim went into our bedroom to watch the game. Silly boys! I offered to take the dog out to play, but nooooooooo........

Well tomorrow is Sunday and I sure hope y'all make plans to go to church. It has bothered me since I first got a computer about 8 or 9 years ago how many people who profess Christ don't enter a door of a church except on Easter and Christmas. A woman once said her preacher told her that she wouldn't have so many problems if she'd come to church once in a while. She was mad that the church folk weren't at her house helping her with a repair. How can the church family know of a need if you don't tell us? Another woman was mad when the church family didn't come to see her when she had a new belly button made. She'd had breast cancer and they'd used her tummy skin to rebuild her breast. Here she is, late 50's, and worried about a belly button. Well, the church didn't KNOW she was having this outpatient surgery so why get mad? Shucks, they were going to come to Rome for my 15 min. eye surgery! I asked them to please not. The staff has SO much to do already and it's 2 hours each way!

Goodness, it's 6:30 so time for my last eye drops of the day and then I think I'll try to find something constructive to do so I don't fall asleep. Watch me and I'll be wide awake by 9:00. Go figure.

God Bless and have a wonderful evening!

Diane Tavegia

Boy was it HOT today!

Happy Lord's Day Everyone. It was so very hot today! Even for Georgia. The temperature gauge on my rear view mirror said it was 88° in full sun when we came out of church at 12:30. Whew! Our home thermometer said 83.9° while Jim was grilling our chicken. It's still a muggy 71° tonight at just about 8:30! Rain should move in by tomorrow afternoon and then the temperature will drop back down to normal. Everything is blooming! Birds are everywhere. I've seen many birds that don't usually show up til late spring.

The choir didn't sing in first service so Jim had to stay for second. We waited and went then. I sure missed out on some great old hymns. Next time maybe we'll take two cars or I'll go back (2 miles) and pick him up. I just can't get into these choruses and then they sing faster and faster.

We had a fantastic sermon by our interim. Boy, attendance was WAY up. Word must have gotten around about how good he is! That man can preach it! I wish he were our new Pastor instead of interim. Right now, he's only committed until the New Orleans Campus is ready for staff to return. Just going to soak up these blessings and take what the Lord has for me while Bro. Preston is with us, and expect even greater blessings later.

I had a full class in Sunday School! EVERY child on my role except for one who hasn't come to church since an infant PLUS one new member and one visitor! The two new children haven't been in church but one is in school so they adjusted to my schedule of lesson first, activity paper, songs and THEN you can play.

We grilled out when we got home and after I cleaned the kitchen, I watched some of my 'fix it up' or 'clean it up' shows and took a 2 hour nap. Nick had gone to visit his friends on the corner who are only able to visit on Saturday and Sundays. They played in the water hose and ran all through the woods. Since I haven't been around a real long time, most of you won't know that Nick is quite allergic to mosquito bites. He's had about 4 or 5 times that he's swollen up so much that he's had to take steroids. The allergist keeps saying he may outgrow it soon. He takes Singulair for the reaction and that does help. We never know when a group of bites will swell and when they'll get quarter size and then go away in a week or so. Wish there were a shot to desensitize him... but not yet! Once mosquito season gets really bad, he ends up in the house a lot because he hates wearing long sleeves and long pants or being sprayed with OFF all the time. Poor kid will tan now and then be as white as can be by late summer. He's already a very light skinned kid.

Speaking of Nick, he's reading about a book a day right now. I'm going to have to head to the Scholastic Warehouse in May to get more books! I'd LOVE to have the Hardy Boys Series for him. He loves mysteries. Won't be long and he'll be reading Agatha Christie. I think I was already into English lit by his age, but books were my dearest friends.

Hubby had extra choir practice tonight for the Easter Cantata. It's very difficult for him to sing that long. They practiced for 1 1/2 hours and Jim only has 50% lung capacity on a good day. He was hoarse when he got home.

I'm very excited about our church showing 'The Passion of the Christ' as a community event on Good Friday. We're serving hotdogs, chips, drinks, providing childcare for children 10 and under and also having some bands perform. It'll be outside unless the weather is bad and then we'll show it inside. Nick and I are going to hand out 'free ticket' type invitations in front of some stores the few days before. I think, having it outside, will bring in many who won't enter church or who are intimidated by our large and expensive church. I'll be there in my overalls. Hopefully we can reach some for Jesus who'd never come into our 'paths' otherwise.

Ah....... the breaking news in our area is that Cocaine is now the drug of choice. Meth had been rampant until recently, but new drug arrests are showing a return to cocaine. I've never used drugs so I can't understand such an addiction, but it scares me when I hear the numbers of how many are suspected to be users in such a small area!

I think someone is angry with me. Not sure if I should approach her or not. Her son borrowed some brand new PS2 games and was to return them two days later. It had been about a month of promises, promises and we called and offered to go pick them up. The father answered and said the boy had '90 he'd borrowed from other kids and never returned them'. Well, mom pulled up after dark and sent her son up to bring us the game. Nick tried to call his friend and the mother said something about him having to do 'baseball homework' and then hung up the phone with no goodbye, etc. Oh Well. No more loaning games to anyone!

Jim made us popcorn and Scooter is sitting next to me waiting for pieces. If I eat one without giving him one, he gets those Eeyore ears. Poor Puppy! I made the mistake of giving him a few Froot Loops last week. Now he'll beg at the pantry door! Silly Puppy! I need to take a new photo so you can see how huge he is. He's 9 months.

Well speaking of puppy, he's needing to be walked and put to bed. No one else has patience to care for him but me. Men!

God Bless,
Diane Tavegia

Happy Monday Everyone!

I always dread Monday's, but slept in today until almost 8:00! One family was late by accident and one had called to let me know they'd be much later today. The four year old is not coming this week. That made for a very nice morning! Wow, did I need that sleep, too! I still snuck in a short nap while the babies napped and Nick played on his PS2.

We had home school band this morning. I'm trying to decide about next year because the commitment has to be for the full year. If we had a piano, I'd be thinking along those lines right now, but we don't.

It's quite warm today but strong winds are moving in tonight and then some rain in the forecast. I sort of dread it because the puppy does enjoy his outside time. Our whole backyard is fenced in and it's 3/4ths of an acre so he chases squirrels and runs, digs giant holes and plays soccer. The back slopes at about a 45° angle toward the house so he takes his ball up, lets it go, and then chases it down. A puppy down the road gets loose almost every day. He looks like a miniature Scooter. He comes and runs round and round the fence, playing with Scooter.

Supper's almost ready for tonight. I'm not sure when Jim will be home but need only minutes to have it on the table. I still have one baby tho, so we always wait to eat until the children are gone. I've got some talkative moms who will stay and stay and stay..... and some who come and go quite quickly. I've had my supper get cold too many times!

Nick and I have started going through things in the rec room for our yard sale. He's figured his PS1 and all the PS1 and PS2 games will sell quickly. I'd thought of doing both Friday and Saturday because there's no school Friday, but I forgot my eye doctor appointment, final recheck, is Friday at 10:20 and is 2 hours from here. Maybe we'll just do Saturday, if the weather is nice.

Speaking of Nick, his friend who rotates living between 3 families is over. He's here for a week, once a month or so. They're playing in his room. I keep an eye on things. Danger boy from down the road is not one to make safe or smart decisions! They're the same age but what a difference!

Well, time to check on a sleeping baby and set the table. Wishing you all a lovely week ahead and God Bless,

Diane Tavegia

Well Shoot.... I messed up my pretty nails!

I got my nails done last night, and about an hour later went to take a replacement cartridge for my Air Wick room thingy's out and messed up two nails. The young woman who did them for me hand painted flowers on two of them. Thankfully, those are okay! Aren't I silly? My nails are something I do for me... I save money by getting things or selling things at the consignment shop, I cut and color my own hair. This is the only way I spend money. S0..........

This afternoon my neighbor asked if I was interested in odd hour childcare. Her husband has left her and she needs someone who can do nights and weekends. Not for me but........ I go to get my nails repaired and the young woman sitting across from me begins sharing. She's a Christian who has been desserted by her husband and lives right near where my neighbor works, and is looking for a child to keep! I brought her home with me and took her next door. The two ladies are talking now. Isn't it amazing how God works?

So, today was a nice day. I started off with a headache and got rid of it with an extra cup of tea and some aspirin. I really just need to take some sinus meds, I think. Everything is blooming and so pretty! It's very windy here today and high 50's.

Hubby had a class all day for his job so he's not been in and out. He did come in around 5 but his night appt. called and had gotten home early. He's still there. It's a couple from church.

Nick's going out to eat with the neighbors in a little while. The kids are setting off some tiny fireworks left over from New Years out in the street.

I want it to warm up and stay warm! We got another $200. heating bill~ OUCH! I am thankful that it gets so warm each day tho. Tomorrow will be high 60's again without this wind!

Think I'll find me something to eat and try not to mess up those two nails again!

God Bless,

Diane Tavegia

Halfway to the Weekend!

Good Afternoon Everyone! Tonight is AWANA and Prayer Meeting/ Choir, so our family will be quite busy. Thought I'd drop by early.

Oh what a beautiful day! The sun is so bright and there's just a slight breeze! Nick has played outside most of the day. His friends just got home from school but they also go to church on Wednesday so probably can't play long.

He's flown a kite and used cardboard boxes to sled down our hill. I'm so glad for the nice weather.

Hubby had a really nice surprise today! The company he just started working for on the first paid him not only for these two weeks but for part of the previous week when he was home painting for me. He'd gone to one meeting for them and gone to take his drug test so they considered him 'employed'. He also got his final check from his old job and it was MUCH larger than it had been since November. Imagine! Neat! He loves his little car with his new company. It is just TOO cute.

My AWANA lesson tonight is about pirates! Well, actually, it's about St. Patrick and how he returned to Ireland as a missionary to those who had enslaved him and how he might have used the shamrock to teach about the Trinity. They've extended my teaching time which isn't good. I now have about 40 mins. for the lesson and 75 - 80 kids ages K - 2nd grade who have to sit in chairs after being in choir and coming right from school. We have no room to move around. I need to come up with something other than songs. Moms today haven't sang the little church songs to their children and only 2-5 will know a song I mention.

Well I've done a lot of cleaning today. I also got the wreath hung in the t.v. room, some weeding done in my flower boxes and hung a cup rack I'd gotten to hold my overflow of tea cups. I hung all my Easter cups up. The laundry is done, one bath is cleaned and I vac'd all the rooms except my bedroom. With 2 pack n plays and bouncy seats in there, it's almost impossible to do anything until the weekend. With my 'new eyesight', I'm finding some things I'd not seen. Someone has spilled something that looks like soda and it had some tiny spatters on my hall wall leaving the living room. I had to use my Black and Decker Power Scrubber to get it off! All cleaned now.

I'll be taking one infant with me to my eye exam on Friday unless a grandma has off. She's the teeny and precious little one. Not sure how she'll enjoy a four hour car ride tho! Nick really doesn't want to go but Uncle Jon sleeps til about noon and I'm not sure..... I'll see....

Enjoy your mid week services and God Bless!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Okay, I'm a few hours early!

How is everyone this lovely day? It's just beautiful here! I got to sleep late. I was sleeping so hard that one of my moms rang the doorbell at 7:30 to wake me! That was nice. Of course, I didn't get to bed until midnight so that was not very smart. Wednesday nights are pretty hard. Too rushed.

Tomorrow morning is my recheck on my eye surgery. I have to drive to Rome, which is about 2 hours each way. Driving home, my eye will be dilated so I'll be a bit slower. Nick doesn't want to go with me but unless Uncle Jon is awake, he'll have to. I don't blame him. It's quite boring! I'll also be taking the 5 month old, unless something changes between now and then. That'll be hard on HER. (edited to say... Mom's friend is keeping her so that's good news. All my 'baby stuff' is put away til Monday. NEAT!)

Poor hubby is sure having a hard time breathing but he's gone to pick up a three day supply of Prednisone to help him snap out of this. For someone with only 50% lung capacity when he's well, he does great. He just talked to the doctor and they think it's all the pollen.

I've sure accomplished a lot today. Seems like it's been a good day to get stuff done. Nick's school work went easily and both babies are sleeping or playing quietly. One loves the sound of my vacuum and sings to the hum. I even got my hair cut but my Flowbee sounds like the motor is going. To replace it is $71. with shipping, but we've used this one for over 20 years! It stopped on me a few times today and pulled my hair! Ouch!

We're going to Olive Garden for supper tonight once the babies are both gone. I love their salads and bread! YUM! The nearest one is in Douglasville, about 18 miles away. We had one restaurant open here and it closed down right away. We ate there once and didn't like it. It was a steak house and the meat was tough.

I've promised Nick I'll go with him and hubby to the flea market this Saturday to see all the swords. Nick's sold some more of his PS1 or PS2 games that were pretty childish or he's upgraded so he has $30. to spend.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

traditional gaelic blessing

Oh I have such wonderful news today! I went for my eye check up and my vision went from 20/800 to 20/20 and has healed so well! I don't need another eye exam for 2 years. Dr. Bob Harbin was very pleased and I was thrilled. He said I never need to even think of the narrow-angle glaucoma again! All gone with no chance of returning because of the surgery. The Lord is so good to me!

Well we didn't end up going out to eat last night because hubby stopped for a final appointment and the family had termites. He got a big sale out of the appointment so it was good that he went. He didn't get in until after 10:00!

My drive to the eye doctor was pretty uneventful. I got there very early and was called back right away but a man in the adjoining room had come in for what he thought was an eye problem but doctor quickly had called in some specialists and they were taking him right over for an MRI and some special tests. He had blood clots in his eyes which indicate a carotid artery or heart problem. Doctor gave him the needed time and attention and then took care of the rest of us. I went by myself. Jon was up and Jim was pretty local so Nick stayed home and played. He's got a little sunburn on his neck and cheeks from being outside most of the day.

We went out for supper tonight and had a very delicious antipasta and homemade lasagna. YUM! I decided we'd go to Covalli's instead of Olive Garden. I like supporting Christian Home Schoolers with our business. I did miss out on the bread and Caesar Salad but I'll live! It's much less money, locally, too! The lasagna is only $5.00 a person unless you ask for a large serving. I ate and ate and still couldn't finish.

Oh our weather is gorgeous! Nick just came in from flying his kite! It's still in the 60° here and the sun is just starting to set. Scooter's in for the night and is chewing a giant bone while laying by my feet. Boy, every time I blink my eyes, I think that dog GROWS! He and Nick both!

Nick wants to go back to the flea market in Bremen tomorrow. I like walking around and going to yard sales too so we're all going. I've done so much cleaning all week that a quick vacuum and bed making will be all I need to do tomorrow.

I slept so well last night! I woke just before the clock went off. I'm sure I dreamed. I always do and in such vivid colors! Whatever the dream, it must have been pleasant.

Oh, a church friend who is an attorney in Atlanta gave me a 21 inch Sony monitor! I had a 17" and the others are 14" and the laptop. NEAT! We hooked it up this afternoon! Amazing!

There's been some mixup with our health insurance so it's not been started already but the new company said it will be fixed by Monday. The owner's wife handles those type things and she is lovely! I had checked because I have my yearly mammogram, and actually a 6 month recheck from the last time, with the specialist in Atlanta and that's one bill I don't want to have to pay out of pocket! YIKES! A year ago, they found 3 teeny microcalcifications. They hadn't changed at 6 months but doctor sent me to the specialist for my peace of mind. She also said they looked fine to her. If there is no change this time, we will ignore them. If there's any change, she'd do a biopsy. They were too small to really needle biopsy but the small type are like 9 out of 10 times not cancer. I've never, ever been ill other than the usual stuff, one root canal and cataracts so I was pretty scared. God has been so good to me!

The appointment is 2 weeks from Monday and if I needed to reschedule, I'd want to do in plenty of time for them to fill the spot. Jim will have to take off work and go with me. That's WAY downtown and I've already gone way past my comfort zone driving wise several times recently. I cannot drive on Spaghetti Junction! Here's a link to a picture of it. Click HERE.

Oh! Update on Jim. His asthma is MUCH better after only one day out of 3 on steriods. He just needed a jump start on drying this up. He feels GREAT! He's being so silly tonight. Right now he's reading his Stereophile Magazine and listening to jazz in the living room. I don't like jazz.

Well, it's time to begin to wind down and veg out! The weekend is officially here and I'm looking forward to a lazy Saturday and a Blessed Sunday in the Lord's House! Make plans now to go!

God Bless,
Diane Tavegia

Good Afternoon All!
We had a nice Saturday. I slept really well last night and woke just before 7:00. Jim and I got up and did a few 'chores' before Nick woke. Once he was awake, he was so excited about going to the Bremen Flea Market that he could hardly eat his breakfast.

The flea market was quite an experience for me. It's maybe a dozen buildings and it was COLD inside! There were some unclean looking women offering body piercing and a big guy doing tattoo's. There was a lot of absolute trash and furniture reproductions. One man was selling tubs of bacon grease! WHAT??? I kid you not! I did buy some yellow squash, bananas and tomatoes at another stand.

Nick got 3 Samauri Swords and 3 knives. One was just a cheap thing. One was a small Swiss Army knife and one was a nice pocket knife. I think it was a 'Case' but may be wrong. He's very proud of his swords. They came with a plastic 'stand'. The man selling the knives gave Nick a lot of history type information on knives and American History, including showing him a 'Hobo's Knife' and explaining about them jumping trains and eating from tins, etc. Nice man! He gave Nick his business card. Another old fella sold Nick the cheap thing for $1.00 because that's all Nick had left.

After that, we went to the consignment shop. It was 50% off week BUT the overalls I chose had a red line through the price so I got 2 pair of really cute Gap overalls for a total of $4.82!

We had some really good BBQ pork sandwiches for supper tonight. I enjoyed it so much that I considered a second one, but stopped myself. I've gained back four pounds that I'd lost. EEK!

Nick's played outside most of the afternoon and I took a short nap while some of the fix it up shows were on. I don't like the British shows as much because they're more modern designs and not my taste.

We're having another of Nick's friends home after church tomorrow. We'll grill chicken out and the boys can play for 5 hours before time to go back to church. Hope Jim doesn't have choir tomorrow afternoon but I bet he does! They're working on an Easter special.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend. Monday my four year old daycare child returns so back to getting up a bit earlier. I sure did enjoy not only the quiet, but the extra sleep this past week. Four year olds sure can talk a LOT. LOL

God bless!

Drip, drip, drip.........
Will this rain ever stop?

It has rained so much this winter and spring. I know we'll be thankful for all this rain this summer when we enter our drought period, but I'm tired of cleaning up mud after kids and dogs! Every time I walk Scooter, I need to wash off his feet, and that's not so easy when he's so huge and thinks I'm wanting to have a water fight.

Nick had a friend over after church and we'd all gone to first service. That means we were home by 11:00 or so. I started lunch in the oven because Jim was staying to sing in second service. The choir comes down as Pastor starts his sermon. Well, not long after Jim comes in I hear a beep- beep sound. My stove had an error code (F2) and had shut off. It seems like our sensor must have gone bad and the cost, if we do it ourselves, is anywhere between $60- $100. We'll find out once we figure out which part number matches our stove. It's gas, so that scares me! We've already repaired it 2 times in less than seven years. It wasn't the builder model either. We paid extra to have a better stove with the self cleaning feature. I'm just thankful that we tend to cook on the grill most nights anyhow. This is no big deal. I sure don't need to be baking any goodies! I'd been craving some of my peach cobbler made with cream cheese too! YUM

I had 7 children in Sunday School today, and my 'helper' didn't show up or call! She's going to be away next week. She's missed a few times, but usually calls with an excuse for not going to church. The kids were really good tho. I only have 7 kids on roll, but I had a new member.

Boy, did I have a weird night last night~ I could NOT fall asleep! It was after 2:00 a.m. and I was still awake! I'd taken some sinus medicine, but that has never seemed to bother me before. Hmmmmmmm. I also didn't take an afternoon nap today. The choir had practice again, and since Nick had William over for the afternoon, I didn't think it right for me to sleep. He's 12 and so nice! They both collect knives, so they chattered away for hours and hours. He stayed until evening service.

Nick went up to pray for some needs at the altar today and I noticed he's outgrown his size 12's! They were up above his ankles. He's soooooo long and tall. I sometimes wonder if his birthfather ever thinks about him and wonders if he's okay. Oh well, I'm just so glad the Lord blessed us with this precious child. (For those who don't know, we legally adopted him when our daughter gave him up for adoption. She had him at 19.)

Speaking of our daughter, I was talking with her last night when her phone went dead. She called back this morning right as I was going out the door to church and said one of her girls is throwing up and really sick again. She also said the school had sent a note saying they are really concerned about Eden's eyesight. They said they'd sent other notes but Erin has never seen those. Her husband doesn't work and does the child care. (Cough Cough) I sure wish they lived nearer so her dad and I could help out. Oh well. I'm virtually incapable of anger, but I can sure get hurt when I see mistreatment of those I love.

Speaking of anger, a wise man once said.....

We are most like Jesus when we are forgiving others.
Our Pastor said:

The magnitude of God's forgiveness to us
demands our unlimited expression of forgiveness to others.

And with that, I'll say Good Night and God Bless!

Art by teenager Jacob S., Kannapolis, NC Teen Ink Click Here

I came across this artwork by a teenager from North Carolina while looking for a cute picture to emphasize my 'story' from today. Isn't this young man talented?

Well, today was Ty's first day back since Thursday week ago. A family friend had passed on 8 bags of clothes, and in them, he found a pair of overalls 'just like Miss Diane's'. He couldn't WAIT to dress today to show me we were 'twins'. Thankfully, I'd put on a pair today that were just like his. He was so proud.

We had a really nice day, even with the RAIN! Both babies were so very cheerful and ate well. Little Sadie, who wouldn't take breast milk from a bottle, and was very underweight, eats fine now but is still tiny. She's beautiful! The other little girl is a great eater and makes the funniest noises almost constantly. Hubby calls her 'Linda Blair'. If she's not asleep, she's making those noises and she's LOUD. LOL Ty wasn't overly chatty today, but at one point, with cars all over the floor and books everywhere, cartoons on t.v., he said to me... 'You have to play with me because I'm all alone here'. Uh..... I don't THINK so! LOL He'd used that on his grandparents and it worked.

We had leftovers for supper tonight. We had pork BBQ left and there's still enough left for one more lunch sandwich. The dishes are all loaded and clothes are folded and put away. As many baby items are put away as I can, during the week, and all the toys have to be put away before Ty is allowed to leave, so our house looks pretty much like a house and not a daycare. Wish I could easily put away the pack n plays each day, but they're a bit of work and trying to set up at 7:00 a.m. is hard when you're half asleep!

We're having just drizzle right now but only miles from here is a major storm. Looks like the rougher weather will hit us in an hour or so. Jim has taken Nick to Best Buy in Douglasville. We get a big discount since our daughter manages one store and our oldest son manages a Magnolia store for them. Nick wants a new PS2 game. He's really helping me with my spring cleaning and earning money that way. He's been using my Black and Decker Power Scrubber and doing all my doors. The doors in the house all have 6 panels, front and back, and we have 19 or 20 doors. All those nooks and crannies love to collect dust!

I got my nights mixed up and missed my visitation night. It starts at 6:00, too, and Ty was just leaving about then. My week was the first Monday. I could have gone tonight but would have gotten there after all the teams had left and would have just joined some older folk writing post cards so...... I'm doing the post cards from home from my church directory to those I've missed. If they get more than one card, it won't matter. Mine's not preprinted.

Next week is spring break for public schools so I won't have Sadie most of the week. Since mom is paying.... she may bring her just for things like Mom going to the store or to do some extra cleaning, etc. I've not been approached by Abigail's mother about keeping her older daughter. She may go stay with the birth father's family. She's not well accepted by this husband's family because of some damage she did to their home. She's 7. I'd rather not keep her and sure hope I'm not asked to keep her this summer. I get the impression she needs watching, closely.

I hope everyone has a very lovely night and made it through Monday okay. God Bless!

You know, our lives have gotten so busy that we don't take time to stop and enjoy the beauty God puts in front of us every day. There's a beautiful sunset outside my window tonight. There's still some dark clouds, but they're spread out and look purple. It actually looks as if I'm looking at a far mountain range. Quite lovely!

It got much warmer today than expected! Nick was thrilled. As soon as the sun broke through, he was out on his motorbike and then flying a kite. He'll sleep good tonight.

Hubby's still an hour from home and has to leave early in the morning for an 8:00 appt. on the far side of Atlanta. I plan on going to bed at a decent time tonight! I'm so bad about staying up when I'm tired and getting a 'second wind' and then watching t.v. til after midnight.

One of my moms is expecting a baby in late June, early July. With her first baby, she was on bedrest for many weeks so we're sort of expecting me to 'lose' the four year old by June. I've had him since he was a baby. He'll go to school in August anyhow. The parents of one of my other infants are school teachers and our agreement was always that they'd pay me for full time care, even school holidays, but not summer time. That means I'll be down to one baby during the summer. I do have a family with 2 boys (from our church) who need me for summer vacation. That'll be 10 weeks. I expect them to take a one week vacation tho and doing more than one child in a family, I charge half price for the second child. My income loss would only be $45. a week tho.... but for the same number of children. I had a group of moms contacting me who wanted to move all their children from one private daycare. I turned them down. It was a big group of 3 and 4 year old boys. I'm just getting my house back to normal by keeping infants instead of little boys.

Nick just got in from his friends house and smells the cherry pie I baked. We'd unplugged and reset the oven and it seems to be working fine. I even checked it with a thermometer and it was exact so I baked a pie. It needs to cool for a while.

Little Abigail cut her two front teeth today. I didn't tell mom. It's sort of unfair for me to be the first to see things like 'sitting up' or 'pulling up on furniture' so I don't offer any info unless mom asks. That way the family thinks the first step is the first step.

Tomorrow night is our VBS preview night. It's before AWANA and I'm hoping I can find a 'co teacher' before I'm asked by the lady who helped me last year if she can partner with me again. I'd prefer to say 'I have a partner' vs 'I don't want to work with you'. Most people near our age are retired and hubby and wife work a class together OR they 'did it when their kids were small' and don't help at all, work in the kitchen, etc. I take VBS VERY seriously and want it done right. My mind is working but I can't come up with a name yet!

Hope you all are having a lovely spring and God Bless!

The spirit of unforgiveness grieves the Holy Spirit and blocks our prayers to God the Father. Do you have adversity in your life and does it feel your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling? Search your heart for an unforgiving spirit. Remember, the Bible says God will not forgive us if we do not forgive others. Seventy times seven.... The perfect number multiplied by itself and then times ten! Infinity!

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Tonight is AWANA and our VBS Preview so I'll be leaving earlier than usual. As soon as my last child leaves, I'll be out the door.

Hubby isn't feeling well today. He was on Prednisone for a few days and it always messes up his tummy for a few days. Both babies don't feel well. One has a horrible head cold and the other has a bright red throat and runny nose. Ty's fine tho. It's time for everyone to lay down for a nap.... Me included!

Last night, after walking the dog for the last time, I tried to encourage him to go to bed. He's SO large and has started laying down like a mule, refusing to enter the bathroom for the night. We dare not leave him out because he's still in that chewing stage. Well, as I tried to encourage him to half stand, I got a hard head in my surgery eye. I was concerned, because the lens isn't firmly in place for up to two months but my vision is still perfect and I've had no symptoms of anything being 'wrong'. Again.... God is good!

Nick had a bit of school work today but it's finally finished. We're winding down our year but we've added some extra review type things. I wasn't pleased with his handwriting, so we're re doing our practice for that and it got better right away. We're also re doing our times tables and fast doubles over. I want to make sure that's really memorized before summer starts and his mind goes to mush.

It's a bit chilly here today but the sun is so bright. You can see all the blooms on the trees and things are blooming all over. Spring is so beautiful. I do need to pick up some different bird seed. Hubby picked up sunflower seeds and they won't fit in many of my bird feeders.

Well, have a nice afternoon and God bless,

Diane Tavegia

This was sort of an icky day for me! Hubby had to be up early and has to be up even earlier tomorrow. He's taking a crash course at the University of Georgia down in Griffin.

One of my moms called before 7:00 a.m. to say she was taking her baby to the doctor this morning. Abigail has a sinus infection and a double ear infection. Mom brought her after the doctor tho. Sadie came on time and doesn't have strep but does have a very sore throat, meaning it was hard to get her to eat. Ty repeatedly would wander into the red mud, even seconds after being told to stay out of the mud or his tractor couldn't be brought back in the house.

Then my neighbor behind me came to complain. He has the biggest house in the subdivision but the smallest piece of property. His deck is second story, but the back of his house is 12 feet from my property line with his deck only 8 feet away. He was out using his leaf blower to blow HIS leaves through my fence and into MY yard and my dog was chasing the leaves, barking at them, trying to catch them in the air. He got mad at the dog. I was watching this leaf blowing ......... Well this guy spends all day every day working on his 8 foot back yard while I have 3/4ths an acre out back.... and mine is filled with toys, sandbox, swingset, and lots of leaves that need raking, while his is mowed every other day and green as can be. I'm sure he doesn't like looking into my kids playground from his second story deck but tough! I brought the dog in and he went back to blowing HIS leaves from HIS trees into MY backyard. LOLOL Then he put down some
